What to do?

Hi There,

I am not sure how to handle this situation. My 19 month old son loves to throw his cutlery and sippy cup at the dinner table. There were a couple of times that he may of hit us head on! We have not really payed any attention to it up to now or told him "no". Tonight my husband said in a stern voice " No, we don't throw things around like that". He immediately started to cry and was very upset for atleast 10 minutes or so. I wasn't sure if this was the right approach or not? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Sounds like normal 19mth behavior to me LOL
You can stop putting his utentils in front of him and just do what I do and lay only his food on his tray / the table . Or if you continue to giving him the plate etc.. just saying no and telling him it's not nice to throw things.. sounds like your only solution, IMHO of course.

We say, "we only throw soft things," and give him something soft to throw. I agree that it is totally normal behavior. My son only throws when he's done or bored of sitting, so often it just means he's ready to get down.
