Child begining to read and...

Thread Starter
we are looking for a book program, or club or series of books to help her learn a bit easier and any pointers anyone can offer. I know some have said Usborne books are great.
Also HOoked on Phonics??
Any suggestions on what to try and what not to try to give her a jump start on reading?

Thanks!
Summie

I've heard great things about the Bob books, they're published by Scholastic. You might want to check the "Learning at Home and Beyond" forum for more ideas, this topic comes up about twice a month over there.

how old is she? My DD is teaching herself to read, and I'm just following her lead. We play word games like rhyming and she's constantly asking me to spell things for her. We read lots of books, and go to the library about once every other week. I'm not doing anything structured, but that's just because I know it wouldn't work with my child. Definitely check out the Learning at Home forum for ideas! I think there's even a resources sticky there.

We stumbled across this book at the library recently. It is not exactly what I think you are asking about, but depending on your dc's age, it might be helpful: Hey, I'm reading! by Betty Miles
