I'm having a pretty nasty problem with my sewing machine. I'm currently using a cheapie White machine, which belongs to my MIL. No matter how well I pin what I'm sewing and regardless of whether the fabric is stretchy or not (though it's worse with stretchy fabric), the top layer is pushed out faster than the bottom layer. It's really frusterating because it results in crooked seams and fabrics that don't match up. I have not tried different feet yet...I am using the standard one that you can use to do any of the stitches.
I've read the machine manual and a library book on using sewing machines. Neither addresses this problem. I'm not a total newbie--I learned and sewed for years on an old Singer, but have never run into this before.
Does anyone have any suggestions?? Please?? I'm expecting my first child in a few weeks and would like to make a batch of diapers before he gets here!
