Hylands teething tablets

Thread Starter
I thought that my 5 month old was teething, (not sleeping so well at night, really restless, thrashing around with eyes closed etc). I gave her a couple of Hylands teething tablets during the day as a test dose, since the gel had never worked with my older daughter, and she proceded to spit them up for next hour or so. Is she too young to be given them? Should I have diluted them in water first for a baby so young? Could she be allergic to them?
Anyone know?

Too young, don't think so... I gave them to my ds after his circ for a couple days cause it LOOKED painful... He is allergic to milk and is ok with it... Are you sure it wasn't something else? I would try them on more time if I were you...

Huh, never heard of that happening before...she's definitely not too young, they are made for teething babies. There is no need to dilute them either. Homeopathics are very, very safe. Those are made with milk sugar, though, so thats all I can think of...allergy maybe? Although Mama Katrina had no problem with that. Its a mystery. hope you figure it out.

Hyland's do contain lactose, but so does breastmilk, so I'd be surprised to see an allergic reaction due to lactose.

I found that dd would spit them out if I just gave her the tablets by themselves--I found dissolving them in a spoonful of water and letting her drink the water off the spoon works the best for us--she will drink water from anything!

IMO Hyland's teething tablets are a godsend. My daughter was terribly bothered by teething, and Hyland's teething tablets worked wonderfully.

We started using them when she was 4 months old, just placing one tablet under her tongue at first, and usually not needing more than 3 or 4 tablets a day.

Could something else have made your daugher spit up? Maybe it wasn't the teething that was making her so irritable but a bit of a stomach bug?
