Hanging A Quilt

Hi All! I bought a beautiful quilt this weekend and I want to hang it on the wall of our family room.

It's a queen-sized quilt, how do I hang it? I'd prefer not to put tacks in the quilt (like the lady who made it suggested I do) but I'm not sure how else to hang it? I thought of doing it "clothesline" style, but that doesn't really fit in w/our decor. How do you all hang your finished quilts?

Thanks!

You can handstitch a "holder" on the back to push a pole through and hang on the ends. What I mean by "holder" is a piece of fabric that is as long as one side of the quilt (usually what you want to be the top). The original piece of fabric should be between 4 and 6 inches wide. Finish the short ends. Press the long ends down. You can run a machine stitch down each side if you wish or not. Pin on the back of you quilt and hand sew down. Put a dowel or pole through it and hang.

after my moms gma died, mom inheridated all the quilts, so dad made her a simple shelve. She simply hang it over the dowel bar
