Hi everyone,
I'm VERY new to sewing (I've done a couple of hems on my ds's clothes/diapers). My dh bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and I need a project to practice on. I'd been thinking of getting some new skirts for myself and wondered if it was something I could reasonably do on my machine. I'm just looking for a very simple skirt--elastic waist, ankle-length, free flowing, etc. Do you think a beginner could do this? And if so, do you have a pattern to suggest? If you don't think this is easy enough, what beginner project would you recommend? Thanks for your help, Kelly

If I was you, I'd just go to your local sewing store and pick out the simplest looking pattern you can find. If you have a Joann's nearby, they are having a 99 cent sale on two of their pattern brands (maybe mccalls and butterick?) toward the end of the month. Patterns can get pretty expensive so I usually stock up at the 99 cent sales. (Also, get yourself on the joann's mailing list while you're there b/c they have a lot of sales and good coupons. I'm not a sale or coupon person, except when it comes to joann's.)
