Washing diapers with Dr. Bronner's & Borax

I posted a question about this in the diapering forum, but those posts move so fast that I didn't get many responses. Anyhow, for the past year or so I've been washing our clothes with Sal Suds and Borax (together) - things come out fine and smell great! I've been doing my diapers that way too, but I was concerned about buildup. I haven't noticed any yet, but I've only been using this set of diapers for a month and a half. I bought some Seventh Generation detergent to compare it to, I swear the diapers come out softer and with fewer stains when they're washed with my Borax/Sal Suds combo. Any thoughts?

I have read in many places that repeated use of Dr.Bronners will creat build up on your diapers. Also, Borax is poisonous, so I refuse to keep it in the house, along with bleach.

I think build up is more of an issue w/pocket diapers where the fleece would repel. Borax will break down the fibers of your diapers. I talked to Kelly from http://www.kellyscloset.com and she suggested only using it on the rare ocassion to get rid of the stinkies or something!

I bought the Seventh Generation detergent too, but women over in diapering suggested that not the best either. I guess because it's more natural, perhaps a soap versus a detergent? At any rate, it appears that most mom's suggest using the cheaper the better! Many mom's also suggested Sportwash and that's what I've been using now. It's great for pockets because it doesn't leave any build up. HTH!
