We're going to a 6-year old birthday party this weekend. What would a great gift be for the birthday girl?

totally depends on the kid. What does she like?
Usually, I let my DD pick out gifts for other kids. She always seems to do a better job at it than I would!

Anytime I don't know the kid well enough to know what they'd like, I get art supplies.

Depending on interests of the child, a kit of some sort to make or do something?? I love our craft store (AC Moore) -- there is always something fun there -- both my girls (ages 8 and 3) love it.

A craft would be a good idea, I think. I know she likes to draw. I saw coloured pencils that can be turned into water colours in a catalogue, but I wouldn't get them in time. I doubt they'd have that here in town. I'll have to look around. I don't know what she's into other than that, and my 20-month-old wouldn't be much help choosing.
