Help me pick a cute yarn or color for this poncho

I'm making this poncho for my friends daughter. I can't pick a color. She's 6 years old, and has dark red, hair. I originally liked the orange and pink in the picture - but she has so much of those colors, same with red. Any ideas?

I'm using the indigo merino worsted from HPY for her little sister's poncho if that helps any...

Does she like yellow? We have a shade from HPY and it is soooo pretty. Yarn

I'd say a variegated green, with grass green, hunter, and a pale green will look stunning with her red hair

Any idea where I could find that? I've been trying to avoid the forest green as well, but that sounds beautiful!!!

Joanns is having a sale, maybe I could buy the yarn and try to dye it myself <yikes!>

Green would be dreamy, esp. with the red hair.

Well, I ordered some Paton's from Joann's and some fiber reactive procion dye from Dharma. I think I can do this! The colors I got were, dark green, emerald green, forest green and bright green. I'm a little nervous to dye the yarn with procions, but I think it will still turn out ok. I was afraid to use acid dyes while pregnant.

I have that bright green. You need to know that procion does not always give true on wool. For instance, that bright green............it comes out, ummm neon. Ask me how I know, and I'll tell you about the custom order I have to re-dye! :LOL

If you have some cheap yarn, experiment first. Hmmm, that's such great advice, I think I will take it myself :
