Getting out of bed....

Anybody have a good strategy for getting out of bed? I feellike I spend all night either planning how I am going to get up and pee or recovering from getting up and peeing!

I roll onto my side and swing my legs off the bed, using them for momentum to get my giant belly up! Good luck.

Hil, that's just what I do.

Just try to keep your legs together whatever you do. I've had some seriously rude awakenings by forgetting to do so. Dangit it hurts!

:LOL I have had some interesting times trying to get out of our waterbed... I find it helps to grimace, and make a strange noise like "HUHHHHNNNN!" while flinging my bulk over the edge.

:LOL

Kinda sounds like a bunch of over turned turtles! I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this a challenge. Grunts and other noises definitely help!!!

I am still sleeping on the side next to the wall (note that I am due at the late end of the month, so I'm probably smaller than most of you!) and I get out by lying on my side, pushing up onto my hands and knees, and crawling backward to the foot of the bed. It works fine if I don't get tangled up in the covers! Definitely better than rolling onto my back and sitting up and scooting forward, which strains my already-sore abs.

My side of the bed is pushed up against dd's crib so I have a routine similar to Becca's, except usually by the time I need to get up, dd has joined us in the big bed and I have to sneak out the top of the covers and try to crawl through the two of them.

I get out the same way. Luckily we have a really really big bed! My ds and I sleep in the queen and my hubby is in the twin next to us, so I can usually get up w/o disturbing anyone. Its going to be a little tight w/#2 in there :LOL

I have a crib/converted toddler bed next to our waterbed. I grab ahold of it and pull myself up.

That's what I was thinking of doing (if we have enough space :LOL)

Its the crawling out between two toddlers that I really struggle with.

My midwives got very serious for a moment one day, a few visits ago. I went to sit up from a back-lying position in a normal, non-pregnant fashion. (like a sit-up, sort of) and they said, "Whoa, whoa, whoa....no. Roll onto your side first. You should never sit up from lying on your back. Because the abdominal muscles move to the side to account for your expanding belly, you put a lot of strain on them and move the uterus awkwardly when you do that. Always roll to your side first."

Last night, in my first yoga class (DAMN, that was harder than I expected!!!) the instructor had us all roll to our sides to get up from an on-your-back position, too.
