Termites in ground near house....

Hi. We are selling our house. We need to have a termite inspection prior to closing. The inspector came today and confirmed the start of termites in our flowerbed outside our house. In order to close, we need to have it treated. They will come tomorrow and stick rods in the ground and release a chemical to treat the termites. My questions are:

Since it is not in the house and just on the outside, how bad will it smell (the chemical treatment will only be done in the ground outside the house)?

Should I not let my kids play in the yard afterwards?

If that's the treatment I am thinking of and that we had to have done once before (bait stations stuck in the ground), it shouldn't smell at all. I woulld keep the kids and any companion animals you have well away from the stations, though. Ask to see the inserts that come with the treatment, and/or look up the pesticides at: www.panna.org (Pesticide Action Network of North America--they have a useful pesticide database on their website).
