7 year old still wets at night - need pants recs.

My 7 year old ds has been potty-trained since 23 months of age, but has never consistently been able to stay dry at night. Sometimes he goes a few weeks without peeing in his bed, but he usually wets about half of the time. It doesn't seem to matter if we wake him up late to pee, restrict liquids, etc. We've never made a big deal about it, we just clean him up and change the sheets. We've told him that some people's bodies just take longer to get to the point where they can stay dry all night. Well, recently it has begun to bother him and he asked me to buy him some "Goodnights" pants that he saw a commercial for on tv. He said he hates waking up wet and feels bad about all the wet sheets. Now, I cloth diapered all 3 of my kids and am certainly not happy about starting with disposable, chemical-laden pants at this point. I've done some looking for better alternatives, but I am simply not in a position to spend $25 a pair for Motherease bedwetter pants. I want my ds to feel as unstressed about this as possible, and I respect his wish to wake up in a dry bed, but I need another alternative. Does anyone have any experience with any other nighttime pants that work well and won't break the bank?

My 7 yr old nephew and 5 yr old niece still wet the bed and their mom puts Kayleighs hemp inserts in their undies (they have to be tight fitting so the inserts won't shift) @ night and that seems to work pretty well.

There was another post about this a couple weeks ago... try searching back a week or two. It had really helpful suggestions. Someone had mentioned an alarm that went off. I thought that sounded like good idea.

I put my 5 year old in X-large Fuzzi Bunz at night. They're really comfy and I use a hemp insert.

Thanks for your replies! I've long ago given away all of my diapering supplies (my 7 y.o. is my youngest) so I know I'll need to invest in something, I just want something as inexpensive as possible for me and nothing too "diaper-like" for him. I'm really surprised that nothing along these lines exists besides the motherease bedwetters.

Thanks again for replying!

FWIW I made some myself for my 4yo dd after pondering buying some for a while, too.
