What is the most sanitary????? (we're talking about preventing yucky flu germs, etc here)

*a liquid anti-bacterial (like Dial, Softsoap, etc)
*a liquid natural hypo-allergenic handsoap NOT anti-bacterial (like Sun&Earth,etc)
*a bar of WAHM soap with EOs
*a bar of soap from the store (like Dove)

I prefer plain liquid soap without added antibacterial junk.

I like the Jason's aloe vera version because it does not leave my hands all dried out like many brands do. If I use Dr. Bronners, it has to be diluted alot! and is better during humid weather. I also often use our seventh generation dish soap to wash my hands when I am doing stuff in the kitchen.
I have heard that the antibacterial name brand stuff can have bad chemicals included, but I don't have the info to substanciate my claim.

We use liquid castile soap in our to wash our hands with. Bar soaps get too yucky after a while.

We use diluted Dr. Bronner's, and it works wonderfully. (The only problem we've encountered is that some kinds of grime my husband gets on his hands at work absolutely will not wash off with Dr. B's, but dish soap usually does the trick in that case.) As for killing germs, I've read quite a few things saying that studies show those "antibacterial" soaps don't actually leave your hands more sanitary than plain soap. I refuse to use them because I think they create more problems than they solve in the big picture, they contribute to the proliferation of drug-resistant bacteria. I've also read many things that say both peppermint and lavender oils are naturally anti-microbial, and conveniently enough, Dr. B's comes in both peppermint and lavender (and others). It's also cheap if you dilute it - we mix it at a concentration of about 3 parts water to one part soap. It's pure soap with only essential oils added, none of the weird stuff they put in most brands of liquid soap, and it's also made from organic oils.

About my only criteria are a) none of that antibacterial claptrap, and b) real soap, not detergents.

We use Dr. Bronner's and Tom's of Maine
NO antibacterial junk!

Getting your hands nice and sudsy removes germs much more effectively than antibacterial soaps, which kill only a few types of germs.

We put Dr. Bronner's soap, diluted ~80%, in a spray bottle, which makes it neater and also aerates it for easy lathering. We use the tea tree variety, which is also a natural germ-fighter.
