would this work in kitchen cotton?

Is there any reason it wouldn't work in kitchen cotton? I'm afraid I'll get to the straps (which are done last) and find that it won't work.

Or is there any other fairly cheap and natural non-wool yarn that would be nice? I wanted to make it as a thank you gift for a woman who let me borrow her serger and she's vegan.

Yeah, it would probably work, but it wouldn't come out fuzzy like that. Maybe you could substitute with a skacel?

You could look here but I know you could find cheaper brands elsewhere...

Something fuzzy like that would be fun, but I think she'd really like some all natural, yk? This would be really kool, too - especially if I were making it for me , but it's $22 for 54 yards!!!

I'm thinking the kitchen cotton will be good for a bag that is more of a practical bag than a showoff purse, yk? Like something I'd throw a bunch of toys in and lug to the car or if I used my own reusable bags at the grocery store (which I bet she does). Depending on how fast it seems to be knitting up, I may try to make it deeper, but with shorter handles.

Truthfully, I don't really like this woman that I'm making it for. Isn't that perverse, somehow? lol I think it was super nice of her to lend me this serger (I don't even know her, just mentioned that I was making dipes in the fabric store and she offered b/c she never uses it and wanted to help since it was such an environment-friendly thing to do), but she's a little abrasive and difficult. I feel terrible for feeling that way about her since she's done me this huge favor. So I'm making her this bag. lol

A bulky hemp yarn would look really lovely in that bag- especially if it was a bit rough and full of texture.

FYI- I found a great price on Colinette Point Five yarn at this website-
http://www.cottonfields.net.au/yarns/colinette-2.html
$12.90 compared to $22.00 on other sites! I have a few oddballs of Colinette Point Five yarn and it's so so cuddly and gorgeous! I've been wanting to order a skein or two... but shipping was $15!

Gosh, 12.90 is still expensive for 54 yards. But it is gorgeous.

I'm gonna scrounge around my lys for hemp tomorrow...
