I have tie dyed tons of cotton, and solid color wool, but I want to have tie dyed wool jersey covers to sell.
I'm thinking...
take the piece of fabric (one layer of felted wool jersey) and soak it in a strong vinegar/water solution (like you would soak cotton in soda ash/water), wring it out, then tie.
Squirt on the dyes mixed w/urea. Put in a ziploc and microwave for a couple minutes? Then rinse and soak with dharma dye fixative & wash in synthrapol.
Am I missing something? Would this work? I don't want to waste any of my wool. I think I'd dye the fabric first then cut it out for the cover so it doesn't shrink too much in the microwave. Then lanolinize the finished product.
