Should I use acrylic for some intarsia on longies?

I'm making some natural colored longies and I wanted to put some sun and moon images around the bottom of the legs. Since they won't be directly getting peed on do you think it would hurt if I use some colors from my acrylic stash? I could Kool Aid dye some yarn but I'd hate to.

It's when you knit an design within your work using a different color. That's the best I can describe it. If you have a blue sweater with say a yellow star on the front, that was put there using intarsia.

Any one care to add to that?

Well, the first part is right. It is putting a design IN your work with a different color. But as for the yellow star on a blue sweater, there are several ways to get that.
You can do it intarsia. You can duplicate stitch. You can embroider. And you can knit the star and then applique it to the sweater. I have done intarsia, embroidery and knitted applique. I did duplicate stitch ONCE (and hated it).
