Sonicare anyone?

I finally got a Sonicare toothbrush. I've wanted one for years, because of my braces and the difficulty I had in keeping them clean, and now because of my permanent retainer and the tartar I've always gotten behind my 2 lower front teeth.

I think it's knocked some of the tartar off, which is great. However, the vibrations freak me out. I have some sensory issues, and this thing gives me the willies when I'm brushing certain areas. It's not even up to full speed yet, which worries me. I'm scared that I won't be able to stand using it at full-strength. Then I'll be pissed at having spent $200.

Anyone else get freaked out by their toothbrush, or am I alone in my weirdness?

I'm not crazy about the Sonicare. The vibrations were hard for me to take as well. I used it when I had braces but once they were off I went back to a regular toothbrush.

i like it for my front teeth, but it REALLY creeps me out on my molars. :LOL

I have one and I'm not crazy about it. It does make my teeth feel clean, but I hate the feeling it imparts to the roof of my mouth.

I have asked a couple of dentists and dental hygienists about it and their opinion is that you can do as good a job with a regular toothbrush if you are patient and thorough. I wish I'd asked them before I bought the thing, though.

I got used to it. It did take a couple of weeks though before it stopped giving me the willies.

The first few times I used it I had to shut it off and just brush the non electric way. Eventually I got use to the vibrations and now I love it.

Oh me too! I can't take it. I never use it because it feels like it is vibrating my brain. It tickles my lips. I hate it!

Same here. After about 3 weeks, I loved it!
