ok I thought this might be a good thread for inspiration and ideas I could use when my ds is older. plus I love hearing about others projects!

I am making ds soft blocks with the cutest animal quilt squares. also a noahs ark bag thing..it's a bag with an ark appliqued onto it then inside are all sorts of little baby handsized pairs of soft animals! (I am using various fabrics, textures, shakers, squeakers and crinkly type things with those)

I'd also love ideas for my 3yo DS.. I already made him Spiderman pillows..He's obsesses with anything super hero..I'd love ideas!!

i have a ton of projects to make for christmas gifts.... but, some ideas i have are-
some dress up clothing for my dd,
knitted finger puppets,
and i want to dye some long silk scarves in rainbow colors and attach them to wood sticks- to make silk streamers.
those would be nice gifts for boys- i always have a hard time thinking of gift ideas for boys!

I have been thinking about knitting ds a xmas stocking and a teddy bear. I will definately do the stocking, but not so sure about the bear, since I have several things I really want to get done and ds will be happy to have the bear in january or february if that's when I get to it... He is also at the age where he really likes bags and pockets, so I'm thinking of sewing him up a bag with a bunch of pockets, which should be a quicker project.

stacey- of course you are welcome to the ideas (it's not mine anyway about the noahs ark bag) i got that one from a baby crafts book. basically the trick to making animals is to cut 2 pieces for each side and a gusset for the bottom part of the body..if you need more detailed directions (Which I'm sure you will as I probably didn't explain myself very well ) PM me! my ds will be almost 10mo at xmas so I'm really glad to hear you think that age would like something like this!

I'm making my two boys a pillow. I'm planning on using a car print on one side and a solid on the other. On the solid side I'm going to sew their name on it using the print from the reverse side. I'll also quilt the printed side.

I've done one already.

I've made my daughter a fringed fleece blanket and one of those fabric books you make from a panel.

I'm hoping to make my son an apron (he received kitchen gear last year for Christmas) and then myself a matching one for when we're cooking together. That will depend, though, on my ability to either find a pattern (I am a very novice sewer or figure out the measurements. I'm not holding out hope that either of these will happen in the near future, though!

We are ordering a doll kit from Joy's for the button dolls. Plus I am making her an Ark. I got this really cool ark last year made of wood with circles cut out for windows. So, I am also making 2 of each animal as well from wool felt. Our house is too small right now for playstands so those are out. Oh, and I'm ordering silk blanks for playsilks too. I am sure I will making tons more because I can never craft too much!

lupineperriwinkle-the ark sounds neat! is it a woodworking pattern? (I am trying to figure out a way to make a cloth one, hehe) oh btw I am making a mr & mrs noah too for ds set

here is a pattern for a toy snake in case anyone is interested (i'm making this one for my nephew)it's a learning type toy to learn to button,tie,snap,etc..

oh and I forgot to share one other thing I am making ds is an asleep/awake bear (it's actually a reversable doll) but he will likely get it before the holidays.lol.

My son will be just over 2 1/2 for Christmas. I'm making him an indoor tepee/tent. I bought some of the material last weekend (and we're using old bedspreads and sheets). I hope to get the material cut out this weekend. This is really going to stretch my sewing skills, but I think I can do it! I'm also going to make him some bean bags. For his 2 year birthday, I made him some play silks and my husband made him bark blocks.

I think I may use the apron idea for his birthday. He loves cooking.

Hmmmm...let's see..... DD will be 11 months old at holiday time, and I'm making her a bunting doll from a kit at Weir Dolls. I don't know what else I'll be making for DD - but I'm intrigued by the toy snake mentioned above. DS will be 3 3/4 years old, and he is getting a knitted doll from a kit at Weir Dolls (unless he gets that before Christmas - it's not a surprise, and he's anxious for me to make it). DS is also getting a box/basket of dress-up/pretend clothes (I suppose I'll be making most of those ). I'm thinking of buying DS a toy treehouse, in which case I'll make him some felt forest gnomes to live in the treehouse. I'm also making gifts for my nephews... the 2yo is getting a set of 36 bean bags with letters and numbers and a play mat with matching letters and numbers. The 4yo is getting a set of play silks that I plan to dye with food coloring and a make-your-own tee shirt kit from plain white tees and a set of fabric dye crayons from Dharma Trading.

I love hearing what others are making, too!

Sarasprings, did you get the teepee patterns at JoAnn's? One of the 'big" companies has it and they are 99 cents. I bought it a few weeks ago but don't recall the company.
As for the ark, it's kind of funny. I bought this wooden ark at a discount surplus store and they had no idea it was an ark. from the back it looks like 3 shelves. Oh, I will take a picture of it and post it in my webshots folder because I'll never explain it right! Give this a few minues to upload to the site.

Oh, I LOVE the apron idea! I've actually been wanting one for myself, and ds is always cooking with me, too. Good idea!

Turns out that Dharma trading has both kids and adult apron blanks pretty cheap. I may take the opportunity to order some playsilks to dye for my daughters first birthday, too, if I place an order.

I haven't had any luck finding a kids apron to paint locally and I'm thinking that the costs of making one would greatly exceed the purchase cost - not to mention my frustration level as I figure out how to sew it!!!

Ugh, no! I had a friend send measurements from her own. I'll call our not-so-close Joann's and see if they know off hand if they have it. That would make it easier.

dh is making the girls a wooden refrigerator to go with their wooden kitchen.

I am making other goodies and trading them for someone who is making them matching dresses and dress up clothing too

And since the girls have food allergies we don't often eat candy type treats so I am going to make them some junk food for their stockings. I anticipate that the candy and chocolate will be the hit of the holiday for them

I want to make stockings for all the kids. I cross-stitched a stocking for my daughter when I was pregnant 11 years ago and it came out so beautiful. I need to make one now for my SD, son and the new baby. Eventually I would like matching ones for myself and my DH, but those can wait.

I'm desperately trying to learn to crochet right now and I'm actually getting pretty good. My daughter wants a homemade poncho, but there is no way I will be good enough to whip one out by Christmas, but I figure if I start now I will have it done perhaps by next Christmas :LOL
