any spindle spinners out there?

Hi,
I usually hang out in diapering but am trying to branch out and I was wondering if there were any other spindle spinners out there? Or wheel spinners, too, but I have never used a wheel... I have been spinning for several years but have yet to touch a wheel, not that I don't want to. I'm currently spinning gossamer camel down on a takhli spindle for a shawl... I think I will be done in a few years... I am not kidding. I haven't had time to spin in months...
Anyway, just wanting to find other mothering spinners!

There's a few of us! I use both a drop spindle and a wheel, though I don't use my wheel often. For that matter, with a newborn and a toddler, I barely touch my drop spindle either... but, in the past and again some time in the future

Yep! Me too! I am slowly spinning enough for a pair of really neat socks.
PS: Tara, i got the spindle, but had a heck of a time tracking down your stuff. It is all boxed and sent today.

Butting in here with a question:

Is it possible to figure out how to use a drop spindle without tracking down a real life teacher? Dd (9yo) is really wanting to learn how to spin. I've got fiber and a spindle, but haven't tried it, and really don't have a clue how to get started. Is this going to be like knitting, in that the first little bit (like casting on and the 1st row) is all wonky and difficult, but once you get going it's okay? Any tips?

BTW, dd is reading the Little House books that take place in Scotland -- the ones about Laura Ingalls Wilder's great great grandmother. Apparently the main character spins on a spindle because she's not big enough to use the spinning wheel.

Qween Gwen,
Check out I Can Spin and Joy of Handspinning . I learned to spin from these sites. The videos are great.

I went to my first fiber festival yesterday. I got a new spindle and more fiber. My husband asked why did I not just get a spinning wheel. I then told him the price of on and he said nevermind :LOL .

It's been awhile. Too long even, but I have aspirations.
and a wheel sitting patiently waiting....

Thanks Tricia!

Dd happened to look over my shoulder when I clicked on the links. She's so excited, and can't wait to get started!

Well, I have 2 drop spindles, and they have some wool on them. At the top of my sewing room shelves I have a beech ball size of unspun wool wrapped in muslin. But I'm not sure I can actually call myself a drop spinner. What's on the spindles is pretty wonky.
