Hello all! I tell you what, I feel like I have come home!!! A whole message board of women who don't tell me I am nuts for going natural in childbirth. Who don't "keep up" with their child's vaccine schedule, who don't get induced on their due date just because. Wow!!! However, I am feeling a little behind the times on many of the acronyms here. So could you all help me out? Here are some I don't know . . . and I am sure I haven't seen many of them. Could you please define these and list some of the commonly used ones? TYIA.
UC birth
AP Mom
and circ I assume is circumcision?

Thanks so much!

Hi and welcome!

UC = Unassisted Childbirth, moms who choose to have their babies at home without a paid attendant

AP = Attachment Parenting, a phrase coined by Dr. Sears that promotes things like babywearing, gentle discipline, child-led weaning, co-sleeping, etc.

Circ = circumcision

Any others you need?

Thank-you! I've been reading through some posts and it reminded me . . . what does it mean to be crunchy?
Thanks,

Heh heh. It comes from granola being crunchy - a hippie thing (granola-eating-hippies!). :LOL So a crunchy mama might, for example, give birth at home, not vaccinate or circ, eat (or grow all their own) organics, be a vegetarian, ec or cloth diaper their child, unschool/homeschool, live an all-around-natural family living/environmentally friendly lifestyle. Of course you don't have to fit all of these to be considered crunchy. These are just some things that can earn a person that type of description.
