Energy Bars for Labor - Recipe?

I remember reading a thread on "what food do you have for labor" and someone gave a recipee for a kind of bar that had peanutbutter, honey, dried milk & some other things in it. She was saying they are great for quick bites of energy & how she hates peanutbutter but they are worth it. If anyone can find it (I couldn't) or knows the recipe or anything like it I'd love it. I've started having contractions & can feel myself gearing up for my last mad nesting rush & think this could fit in nicely. Thanks!

i'm curious too!

i tried doing a search... all i've come up with so far is a thread with suggestions of what to eat during labor, but nothing like what you're talking about...

I should have written it down at the time. It sounded good to me ( I like peanutbutter) Hopefully someone saw it and will remember...

i don't know what that recipe is, but we used to make balls that sounded similar that i can tell you about (back in the day, ours had a *special* ingredient that i no longer eat--or smoke). we basically mixed all kinds of good stuff--nut butter (doesn't have to peanut butter), honey, spirulina, quick oats, puffed millet/rice, sesame/flax/pumpkin/sunflower seeds, coconut, ummm, anything really. you can take out or add anything...like carob or choc chips, m&m's, carob or cocoa powder, raisins, chopped dates, soy or dairy milk powder, royal jelly, bee pollen. the main thing is just to get it to a stiff consistency by balancing out the gooey with the dry. if you end up making too many, you can freeze them and use them when the baby is constantly nursing or you just don't have time to cook yet, but really need food to tide you over. it will stiffen a bit if you let it sit and come together. then you can roll them into balls or roll them flat and cut into bars or squares. i rolled the balls in sesame or coconut to keep them all separate. if you are into chocolate, you could roll them in cocoa mix too.

have fun and post other ingredient ideas you come up with. i forgot about making them--great idea!

Thanks! That sounds something like what she was saying. I was going to just try mixing up some things... it's good to hear that you just ballance it out to the right consistency. Yummy.
