Somewhat disappointing appt today

Just got back from an OB appointment.

I tested positive for GBS. Sounds like it is just a brief (15-minute) IV antibiotics when I get to the hospital, but after avoiding even a hep-lock last time, I'm a little disappointed. At least I don't have to be hooked up for very long.

She also checked and I'm still only about 1cm, as I was 2 weeks ago. Baby just isn't pressing down very far... but at least he or she (I think he) is head down.

I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, I'm still a good 2 and a half weeks before my due date, but I'm just ready to move on from being pregnant. Also I am really ready to stop working and be on maternity leave.

Well, thanks for listening.

Wish I could make you a hot tea, and watch Amelia while you took a nice long nap.

These last weeks are tough aren't they? So sorry about the GBS thing...maybe they can take the hep lock out as soon as the antibiotic is in...

Liz, I could have written this last week! I'm hoping when I go in on Thursday there will be some change from 1cm. Or at least more effacement! And I am TOTALLY ready to be on maternity leave!!! I would stop working now, except that I think I would go crazy just sitting at home waiting for labor to start!

We're almost there! Believe me, I'm with you!

Thanks everyone! I know that my complaints are in no way unique right now for us in the November club.

I forgot to mention that my OB brought in an ultrasound just to make sure the baby was head down (she thought that it was from the external, but from the internal she wasn't sure). Well, since I can't tell my husband, I think that she gave me a little more evidence that the baby is a boy. I've been thinking it was probably a boy from my first ultrasound, but not totally convinced. She said "that's the umbelical cord, no those are extremities" and a little bit later asked if we'd found out the gender. And I realized that the "extremities" were boy parts, though I didn't ask her to clarify. I did ask if she knew, and she said she thought so.

Dh doesn't want to know the sex. I was indifferent all along, so I'm not too upset to think that I really know.

The only downside is that now I won't get to use those cute girl clothes again, and we have to deal with a circumcision... :

Girl, I posted the same thing like last week!! After hearing I could only be hooked up for 15 minutes made me feel better. I hate that I need to go in the hospital sooner rather than last minute like I had planned.

I'm still at a 1 cm, and pretty thick too.

I just keep thinking, okay, I still need to do this and that....... lol

At least my OB didn't say anything about coming in earlier then I would normally. She said she'd be surprised if they were even able to get the second dose into me. I like her optomism about a speed labor since mine was so long with dd.

Well, back to working, before my "surprise" baby shower that I just figured out is happening today. I thought I made it clear I didn't want one, but I'm glad that I know so I won't be totally shocked when it happens.
