I've been AWOL from these threads so long, it's exciting to hear about all these impending births. I hope that everyone's contractions and general feelings of something coming turn out to be the real deal

As for me I can't imagine having this baby before my due date b/c my daughter was born so late. If there is a genetic pre disposition to having a late baby, then I definitely have it. All the babies that have been born w/o chemical induction in my family have been born at 42 or 43 weeks. First time around I was in denial, but this time around I'm pretty relaxed.

I'll be sure to check back in frequently, I'm a birth story junkie

Nothing real happening yet, but we're definitely getting there. "There" could take 3 weeks, though, so who knows! (I'm at 38 weeks 2 days.) I still haven't lost my plug and I'm checking for it obsessively when I pee.

Here's what is happening: I feel like crap today. Totally tired. Achy and crampy, both in front and back. I'm having serious surges, but nothing rhythmic. I've been cleaning my house like a MAD woman, despite feeling like lying down. When I'm moving I don't have as many surges... it is when I sit or lie down that they start rolling. I've cried on the phone to my SO once, and he talked me down from crazy land.

This could be pre-labor, this could just be a bad day. We'll see how it goes. Please send labor vibes my way, though. I want to see this baby.

Chelsea!!!! Are you at the hospital?!?!

Well, it turned out to be nothing for me. The midwife said I was 1 cm dialated and 50% effaced, so it doesn't look as if things are going to be moving too quickly. I doubt I'll have an eclipse baby. I think he needs another week or two to cook.

It is so exciting that some of us are soooo close!!
I am 37 weeks and hoping baby will wait until my EDD, when my sis will be in town I had a midwife appt. today she said the baby had dropped and was engaged, which my bladder had already been telling me.
I will light my candle for all you and send beautifull birthing vibes off

Ah Monica..so sorry you are feeling out of sorts...what you need most to do right now is RELAX...hopefully I can listen to that advice when it's my turn..but seriously, labor will move along as it's meant to, but if you stress out too much, it won't...

Hugs to all you ladies waiting!

Hey all!

I'm at 39 weeks... hard to believe! This is my first, and I am just loving being pregnant so much, that I will be sad when it is over! Having said that, this waiting game is driving me a little crazy. It is so weird to not know when this is going to happen. I almost don't believe that it will. Everything is pretty much done in terms of preparation. Friday is my last day of work. That, in and of itself, is pretty weird. I haven't had three months off since 1994. Wow.

I don't feel like the baby is coming early. A couple of weeks ago I was getting some BH that knocked the wind out of me, but that stopped. Now I just get the kind that are tight on my belly, but not painful. The baby feels snug as a bug in a rug. She's moving, but not much. All is good.

We'll see what happens...

Meanwhile, lots of great thoughts for all you laboring mommies to be!

Well, I was planning on waiting until tomorrow after my appt. to post, but it's so exciting around here, I just have to post! I'm also feeling like we may be having a full moon baby, but I also feel like it could be another week or two easy. DD was a week late, but I was also just sitting at home not doing much the last two months of my pregnancy with her. This time, I'm crazy busy w/full-time grad school and a toddler! Plus, I've been taking 5W since I was 35 weeks and I think it may be working.

So, here's what's going on with me. I posted earlier in the week that I had a lot of bloody show on Sunday and I'm pretty sure that I've lost my plug over the last few days. I did a self-check and figure I'm somewhere around a 3, but I think I'll have the mw check for sure tomorrow. I started having lots of contractions yesterday afternoon and they haven't stopped, but they really haven't increased in intensity at all. Some stronger ones this morning, but then they died down. I almost came home from my internship early b/c I was feeling so crampy. I've got my house cleaned up and ready over the past few days. I don't really want an October baby though. I'd really like the baby to have a birthday of Nov. 4 or 5. With dd, I had seemingly insignificant contractions often and only barely increasing in strength over the course of a day and a half before my water broke and things really took off. I think if my water hadn't broke with her, I would have been in labor for days and days. Well, I'll be sure to let you all know if anything more significant happens. It's probably nothing except for my body getting ready, but it is kind of exciting.

Feeling pretty crampy and stronger contractions. Maybe I'll try timing them. I just don't know what to expect this time around...

Well, I just sat outside for an hour and a half and watched the eclipse. I meditated, chanted that I'm ready for the baby to be born, and even drew moon influenced birth art. Yes, I am a crazy hippy. Maybe it will do some good and speed these contractions up- get labor going. If something doesn't happen tomorrow, I will just surrender to the baby's wishes and stop hoping for an early birth. But I'll keep hope alive for a few more hours!

Wow, I am burning candles all over the house tonight. I put the birthing necklace that my midwife has passed on to me until I give birth on too and I am thinking of you all. The necklace is so cool it has charms or beads from each of her former mamas for the last few years. The only thing that is bumming me out is that someone already put a bead exactly like the one I picked out on it, so I have to go and find another one.

I would like to say that they are burning for me too but my contractions just won't get regular

My midwife had me come to her house today and they checked me for the first time. My cervix is ripe. I am 3-4 cm dilated have lost my plug and she and her apprentice were able to feel the baby's head. The baby has positioned itself in a much better way so at least I don't have to worry about back labor. The baby's head is very low but the contractions just won't get strong and regular. I am getting worried because my feet are swelling and there is protein in my urine. I sure wish this little stinker would just come on out. I saw in the another thread that Chelsea had a girl. Has anyone had a boy yet?

I knew there would be a baby today!! Yay Chelsea!! Way to do a first time birth girl!!
Ctx have slowed down. I'm going to stick with you, Amanda. If the baby doesn't come tomorrow, I've got to let go of my preconceived notions of an early birth (for my own sanity). Sleep well everyone!
Dawn, don't you think Nov. 4 or 5 sounds like a better birthday to have than the end of October? (I'm really saying this for my own sake/sanity, trying to convince myself.) That way you don't have a Halloween baby, birthday parties won't be conflicting with Halloween parties and all the sugar. It would always be the week after Halloween. Also, unless you voted early, you probably wouldn't feel up to going and voting Tuesday unless baby waits at least until after you vote on Nov. 2. So, since this baby doesn't appear to be coming in the immediate future, it seems my body is just gearing up, I've decided that I want baby to wait another week.

I lost my mucous plug about an hour ago! : I know it could still be a while, but it's progress! I'm so excited! (Note to self: breathe)

I'll laugh my a** off if I have this baby before midnight, because I predicted it would come on the 28th.

Yea for everyone with babies on the way! I hope this is it for you, Dawn!

So, could you guys spare some hugs for me if you think about it? I'm pretty depressed today. I know I'm being stupid and impatient and I'm trying to change my attitude, but I'm just having a bad day. I really want to meet my baby...

Sorry to be a downer. I have my candle lit for everyone. I feel like I've had it lit all week!

Hang in there Amanda... it's not even November yet I want to see my little one badly also and with all these women having theirs, it's killing me to wait, but remember when he/she is ready to come out we will know At least your due date is soon, mine isn't till Thanksgiving! But I think the doc wants to get him out sooner, possibly next week or 2 because of my really high blood pressure.
