Our sweet Dog died today...

Duke, our beloved 10 year old German Shepherd, just passed away.
Monday morning, we awoke to Duke having major seizures.
He was rushed to the Vet, he was stablized for a time but did not make it.

I guess we'll see him at the Rainbow Bridge someday.

"Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. "

We'll miss our friend, our protector.

I am so sorry. I know it is terribly difficult to lose a beloved pet. Thanks for posting the Rainbow Bridge story. It reminds me of where my deceased pets are now. I loved the pictures. I hope Duke is in a very happy place enjoying himself right now.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost our Rott a year ago tomorrow and it's still hard. He was 10 1/2 and a great dog. Dh took the day off work and we're having a memorial service tomorrow.

more hugs...
losing a pet is devastating in so many ways. we lost a very special dog one week before our wedding. so,so hard. we will never replace him, but our "new" dog needed us, and found her way into our hearts and home! I hope that if you seek a new pet as a member of the family, you find the one that fits you perfectly.

I am sorry to read this post. These animals that we call pets but who are really our best friends - they give us so much love and we gain so much from their friendship. But, darn, when they pass on, it rips one's heart to shreds. I'm so sorry you lost Duke. I looked at the photos and he looks like a sweetheart. Time will heal (I know from personal experience) and those memories will always live in your heart - sounds cliche but it is absolutely true.
