breastfeeding or nursing? - Page 2

I have no problem with the word 'breast,' but I hate the word 'breastfeeding.' People who use formula don't saying 'formula feeding' in regular conversation. I usually say I'm feeding the baby, he's eating, or I'm nursing him. If people ask me what he eats (usually asking about solids in a circuitous manner), I respond milk. If people want more detail, I'll give it. People who know anything (most people) completely understand what I'm saying (breastfeeding and breastmilk), but those ignorant souls think whatever they want, and I avoid an altercation. I prefer the passive aggressive form of advocacy. :LOL I NIP everywhere and tell everyone who asks what we do in our family, but I don't like to get into it with strangers unless they seem receptive. I do make exceptions for those who really ask for it though

We use nursing, breastfeeding, boobing and feeding interchangeably. :LOL

Until I came home one day (unexpectedly) while he was feeding her. And he was cradling her with such love and attention and she was so obviously enjoying the close contact. I no longer mind his phraseology. Of course, he never calls what he does "breastfeeding"!
My dh used to do that when I was working while dd was a babe. He would position the video camera on the rocking chair and then bottlenurse her, murmuring to her all the while. It made the pumping while at work seem all the more worthwhile knowing she was being loved while eating.
