Thank you everyone!!! :)

Hello!! I'm so sorry I wasn't able to write sooner, but there was literally NO TIME during labor, and we just got home from the hospital today! First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to all of you mamas!! You have been such a source of inspiration, knowledge, support, and friendship, and my pregnancy, labor, and birth wouldn't have been the same without you!

Olivia Audrey was born on Wednesday, October 27th, at 10:24am! She weighed 9 lbs, 1.6 oz, and was 22 inches long. I guess I really WAS in labor! :LOL I woke up at 2:30am with back pain that was coming and going, and DH woke up at 3:00 and said, "Uh, honey, are you having contractions?" Doh! He started timing them, and they were 30-45 seconds long and 3-5 minutes apart. I did a lot of swaying and hands & knees with counterpressure from DH. The contractions were easy to work through, so we were in no hurry. We called our doula at 4:30am, and she said we probably didn't need to go anywhere yet. At 5:30 we called the hospital (30 miles away) and they said to come in since the contractions were so close together. We dawdled around a little (not wanting to get there too early) and got to the hospital at 7:00am. Little did I know that that little wave of naseau I felt walking from the car to the hospital was transition...

A nurse came in to check me, and after about 2 minutes of "checking" she said, "Ummm....I'm going to get a second opinion..." So another nurse came in and checked, and I was 8 cm!!! DH, the doula's, and my mouths all hit the floor! There was no hall-walking, no laboring in water, not even really much change in positioning! I spent most of the next two hours standing next to the bed, swaying and leaning forward, or on my hands and knees, or side-lying. Then, all of the sudden, I had THE URGE! It was so amazing!! It was completely uncontrollable. I still had a lip all the way around, so I had to pant through a few contractions. DH was laughing at me in amazement of what my body was trying to do without me! Quite honestly, this was the only painful part of my whole laboring experience. The contractions were not sheer joy, but very bearable until that point.

I started pushing at 9:00am, and what a relief! No pain, just progress! I got to feel the head when it was still about 1-2 inches back, and that was cool. There was a little meconium in my fluid, so the doc wanted to suction her when the head came out. Well, all of the sudden he says, "Okay, don't push! I'm going to suction now." My eyes shot wide open, my head flew up, and I said, "Suction what??? Is the head out???" Everyone smiled at me, and said, "Yeah it is, honey!" I reached down and there was this AMAZING little baby head--so soft! She came out with the next contraction!!

I did have a little episiotomy, which I wasn't thrilled about (14.5 inch head...), and she had to go straight to the warmer because of the meconium, and because her heart rate had been dropping during contractions (I was on oxygen during pushing), but I had such a great birthing experience!! I am so thankful!

She is a voracious little nurser--my milk actually came in last night because she nurses so much and is so strong! DH is an absolutely WONDERFUL father, and has been so good to me this whole time.

Congrats to all the mamas with new babes since I've been gone! We're off to babymoon! (I'll probably be checking in occasionally, but I plan to fully enjoy my precious little girl!)

Oh, and pictures and more pictures!
