Homeopathy for eczema?

Has anyone had any success using homeopathy for eczema? My baby has persistent eczema- not horrible- just won't go away- and I am thinking of taking him to see a homeopath. I would really like to deal with this problem from the inside out rather than just smearing some gunk on him. I have never been to a homeopath before though, and am wondering if I am headed in the right direction.

btw, if you have used homeopathy for eczema, what was the name of the medicine prescribed?

I haven't, but if it is persistant, you may want to look into food allergies. Since we have gotten ds#2's diet under control his is almost non existant!

Lea, would you keep us posted if you use homeopathy- let us know how it worked.

I have a 2yo with horrible eczema- we've figured out a lot of what's irritating her, but it never totally clears up. I'm taking her to a chiropractor who uses various techniques including accupressure and applied kinesiology. He's a dear friend, but I'm very skeptical, but I'm also desperate for somehting to help my dd. I'll check back in and let you know if that avenue is successful for us.

Good luck!

we've had good luck with my son's eczema. we tried SO MANY things at once that it's been far from scientific, but homeopathy was one of them.

ds always had dry skin, then started getting eczema flare-ups when he was still exclusively breastfed. it got worse.. i tried cutting out wheat, then dairy. turns out that soy was the biggest culprit, so no soy anymore (funny but now that i've cut it out it repulses me too). eliminating soy slowed the eczema down, but it never really went away. then dairy... yada yada...

anyway, i really hate cutting foods out of a diet permanantly so i put a big focus on helping his digestive system get better. we went to a chinese herbalist who said NO fried foods, fish, peanuts, eggs and gave nasty brews that no doubt would have helped if my son would have drank them (he said there was a weakness in his digestion). ds is a picky eater at the best of times so i've introduced the liquid diet!! i'm turning into the smoothy queen - rice milk, berries, banana, lots of flax/hemp oil, some cod liver oil, acidopholis, spirulina, greens, vitamins, puffed cereal... you name it! he drinks A LOT of smoothie every day! and is slowly getting more interested in other foods. we're not very restrictive.

we went to a naturopath who has given us a homeopathic tincture (a mystery mix - not classic homeopathy) meant to help his intestinal flora set up in healthy populations.

we also have started putting him to bed much earlier, so 6:30-7:30pm instead of whenever he crashed. he's 2.5 years old.

the things i FEEL have helped the most are the early bedtime, all the oil/spirulina in the smoothie, and the naturo/homeopathic tincture. ? i know it's fudgey, but that seems to be how my life is with kids. good luck with your babies!

Update

We had our second appointment with the chiro I mentioned in my pp. He says he works on an "engery level," and uses techniques like accupressure and applied kinesiology. He lives 4 hours away from us, so it's alot of planning for us to see him. I can't say I noticed much of a difference after our first visit. But during this second visit, he concentrated specifically on DD's peanut allergy, since she'd been exposed to peanuts a week ago and was having a difficult time for the past week. When he was finished, he said that he'd helped her body learn to deal with the peanut and a small amount of peanut butter shouldn't bother her anymore- like one sandwich should be fine.Well, I that's nice, but I don't want to test it, ya know? So, she's not much different today- she still has patches on her legs and arms and neck as usual. BUT--- this morning I was making peanut butter sandwiches for something at church, and I thought, maybe I will test this out- I put a little dab of peanut butter on her back to see if she'd break out there.

She didn't.

I don't know what that's real evidence that he's helped her allergy. I'm still scared to have her ingest any- I know that could lead to days of misery. I'll check back later if there's anything else to report. We see the chiro again in three weeks.

Just wanted to say that my taking omega 3 supplements helped DS's eczema tremendously. He's now 8.5 months, and developed eczema about 4 months. I read about this in Superimmunity for Kids. I slacked off taking it this week, and the eczema is beginning to come back. Amazing!

If you have hard water and you're using any kind of soap that could be a problem.

My ds had ezcema by his 2 month visit and blood in his poop. He was diagnosed with milk protein intolerance. I think the vaxs had something to do with this, but that is another thread. I stopped all dairy. I did an elimination diet and found him sensitive to soy, corn, onion, fish, and certain veggies.

I take flaxiseed oil, cod liver oil, vit c, and probiotics. I give him probiotics and Vit C. His ezcema is gone and his digestive system is way better.

Good Luck.

It's remarkable how every case of eczema is different. Peanuts, eggs, soap, fabric softeners, polyester, disposable diapers and certain detergents make my dd break out. If she is exposed to any of those things, within 2 hours, she's bright red and itchy all over. Changes in the weather do it to. Or changes in her moods. She has good days and bad.

The chiro is had also started DD on a vitamin supplement. he said she's very deficient.

I agree with the pp that suggested that vaccines might play a role.

Nosy- where do you get the supplements.

I have found that if she's breaking out, chamomile helps alot.
