My daughter is NOT turning 1 in a few days...

My daughter is NOT turning 1 in a few days...

Maybe if I repeat it to myself enough it'll come true, right? Right??

Her birthday party is in two days - on Sunday. Eeek! I'm so unprepared. My mother asked me last night what i was serving everyone to eat. Um, oops. I had forgotten that I have to feed these people. I'm a nutcase right now. I haven't had a chance to read up on everyone's posts yet - I'll do that later and respond more.

Henry's is next Saturday and I just got slammed with a work project due next Friday. How I'm supposed to clean and decorate my house, plan and cook food, prepare fudge (don't ask), bake & decorate a cake, and finish b-day shopping on top of working I don't know. Gotta get it together this weekend, I guess. I'm "this close" to catering the food part, but I'll feel guilty about it later so 'tis better to suffer. What's a little less sleep at this point, yk?

Anyway ... I know we talked about this before but ... has anyone introduced whole milk (or an equivalent yet)? Not as a replacement for bm or formula but as an addition. Henry's been drinking A LOT (3-4 oz.) of water at dinner (drinking more water than eating) so he fills up on water and then doesn't eat leaving him hungry a little while later. I decided to replace the water with some whole milk (2-3 oz.) figuring that even if he fills up on the milk, at least he's filling up on something with calories which should theoretically hold him a little longer. He doesn't seem to like it too much, though. Any thoughts on how to encourage it. Should I try to cut it with water or bm?

maybe if you warm it up a bit.I have noticed Angelica take it a little better a few times when it was room temp.

Amy~ Jessica won't drink milk yet either, she takes a mouthful, makes a horrible face and lets it dribble out her mouth and down her chin. I've tried watering it down, mixing with bm - nothing works. It took a while for Danielle to take to it though so I figure she'll take it eventually. Danielle can drink a gallon a week - heck she'd go through a gallon a day if I'd let her.

i think i will try milk tomorrow...we havnt tried that yet. I'm curious to see her reaction. all they have here is 2% tho, but i guess that's an ok start.

(From what my kids Dr tell me) Their suppose to have whole milk on a regular basis for the extra calories and what not that aren't in 2%. Not that 2% would hurt her. YKWIM right??
sorry if this is a dumb question, and i'm really not interested in starting up a big ol hairy dietary debate... but why do we want to push milk? i'm not vegan, or even trying to be, and i have been giving ds a little cheese, but i'm a little leery of milk, even tho i buy organic... i'm not sure it's at all rational. so, just wondering.

i am having the same problem as you, Henry's Mama, i can't get him to eat anything, and i am totally open to ideas!

oh ok, i didnt know all that. that's just all FIL buys is 2%, so thats all we have, and I am just curious to see if she even likes it.

OH! I think I found a house I have to call the realtor tomorrow. Step-MIL and I went to look at it today. and we talked to one of the neighbors...he said that its a repo that has been on the market and vacant for over a year. he said no one has been interested or looked at it in over 6 months. It was originally priced at $75k, now its down to $45k...he said we should offer $29k since there is so much that needs to be done to fix it back up. FIL is going to go with me next week when I go thru it with the realtor and do an actual contractor's assessment of all the damages, so that way we have some basis for asking for a cheaper price. Its a great house as-is, it just needs some touch-up work, and a stove and a fridge, lol. the yard is huge, its on 1 acre. the neighbor seemed nice and he said he hopes we get it b/c he would love to have neighbors again. Now i just hope we can get financed.....

I'm so excited, I could pop!

I'm not actually pushing it.
Milk has always been in my house and I love it myself. Angelica will be on the boob till she starts school at this rate but i'd like her to like other things too.

Christy- good luck on the house. 29k huh???? Wish houses were that cheap around here.

I think whole and 2% taste very different. If you have both all the time then you wouldnt notice the difference so much.
My point is she might like the 2%when you give it to her and have different feelings about whole...
I'm in a blabby mood tonight-
Have a nice weekend everyone. if the boards go down and we cant chat I justwanted to make sure to getthat in

Wow, I can't imaging buying a house for that! I hope it works out for you.

I just give Iris water. She's had juice a few times, and rice milk and soy milk on cereal. My other kids just drink water, I think other beverages can be empty calories that leave less room for food.

I am trying to decide what to do for Iris' cake... She hasn't had chocolate yet, we aren't doing nuts... DH suggested banana bread, she loves that! Her party is on Sunday. *sigh* Saw some pregnant friends today, and CRIED. How sad is that?

Happy Birthday to all the babes turning 1!!!

Christy - Wow! What a great price! I hope you get it. :

As far as dairy, we just tried some yogurt last night. But Emily isn't quite 11 months yet, so we'll hold off on that until she's a year. I am feeling the need to get her on some dairy, because I'm going to be stopping pumping, so will run out of Mama milk soon after. And I, personally hate the taste of soymilk. It would be nice to not have to have a million things in the fridge. So, if she tolerates it well, cow's milk it will be.

thanks, i hope we get it too!

sage just ate a big piece of cheddar cheese, lol. she loved it, but she made a mess,
lol. i think cheese is the only dairy she eats, other than mama milk. I think i will hold off on giving her cow milk til i can get some whole milk.

Oh im so tempted to cheat, lol.....only a couple more posts.............
