Sutemi Gear Carrier

Thread Starter
Product name: Sutemi baby carrier

Brief description of product: Front, back, hip carrier (backpackish)

Store/Site of purchase: Sutemigear.com

Price: $84

How long have you used this product? A week

Fit/Sizing: Poor. I am a short plus sized woman. 5'4", 200 lbs
I had to get the large for hip width but the straps are too long. More average sized people shouldnt have that problem.

Performance: Poor. Back hurts after only 30 mins of use. Front carry hurt after 1.5 hrs. Hip carry digs into my neck so I dont use. Again, this may all be a sizing issue.

It is quite bulky. More so than the Ergos Ive tried on.

Workmomship: Excellent, very professional.

Customer Service/Communication: Shipping, basic questions excellent. When I tried to get a better idea of where on my body different straps should be for best fit/least pain they were very vague. "wherever is most comfortable for you" is all I could get out of them.

Would you purchase this product again? No.

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? If yes, please provide details of any resolution or lack thereof

I dont know if this is a WAHM, the site looks very commercial but you do get a live person when you call.

Sutemi Carrier Review

I have a Sutemi Carrier and I like it for the most part. It is very comfortable and works great for my 1 year old son. I use the backpack carry primarily. It is well made and seems pretty rugged. I probably wouldn't use it for a young baby, because I prefered a pouch sling until my baby got older.

Cons: I don't like the way you have to have the straps crossed in the front. My husband calls it the "cross your heart bra" It makes me self-concious the way it seems to "highlight" my boobs I also haven't mastered getting my son into it by myself...so this greatly limits how often it is used right now.

I give it

If I did it again I'd probably go with the Ergo Carrier.

I love it-- most comfy carrier I've used (More so than Kozy, New Native and generic padded sling).
It was 75 dollars and nicely made. Great customer service.
Ive used it for several weeks for 25 lbs. 18 month old. I love the backpack style straps that are so easy to adjust once the pack is on. I love that I don't have to untie anything to make it tighter.

Brief description of product: Front, back, hip carrier (backpackish)

Store/Site of purchase: Peppermint.com

Price: $75

How long have you used this product? Two months

Fit/Sizing: Very adjustable. Fits me petite female frame and my husbands average male frame.

Performance: Great! We compared with an Ergo by carrying our 4yo around for an hour each. The Sutemi was far more comfortable!

Workmomship: Excellent, very professional.

Customer Service/Communication: Fine

Would you purchase this product again? Yes, for my husband.

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? No

Additional Comments: I hate the way it criss-crosses in front (while child is on back) looks-wise but after trying the Ergo as well I've determined it's this design that makes it so much more comfortable.

Price: 39 on clearance

How long have you used this product? only two days, but I'll edit my review later.
After 6 months, this carrier is still great. I can easily put a 9 mo on my back by myself. I have carried my 47 pound 5 year old in it without any trouble.

Fit/Sizing: excellent. I am 5'4" and about 180, so I worried the small would be too small, but it works great, and it should keep working as I get smaller.

Performance: Great for front carry with a 3 month old. Great for back carry with a 3.5 year old. I carried Sylvie for more than 45 minutes. Phaedra has been in it up to an hour on Daddy and about 30 minutes on me. Quite comfy.

Workmomship:Looks great, but I cannot remember where it's made.

Customer Service/Communication: Haven't needed it, yet, beyond the info I gleaned off their website.

Would you purchase this product again? yes.

Have you made a complaint to the WAHM about the product? If yes, please provide details of any resolution or lack thereof

Additional Comments: I am really impressed with this product. I was amazed when my 3 year old rode in it for so long without discomfort for the adult or child. Also, I was able to nurse my 3 month old in it which I have not figured out how to do in my mei tai. I live in Texas and it's HOT right now, but the baby and I were not any hotter than we get in the sling.

Price: traded

How long have you used this product? one month

Fit/Sizing: poor. I am 5'2" and about 110. The wide straps and waistband overwhelm my petite frame.

Performance: Carries my toddler well, 3mo. old baby is a little too small for it, though.

Workmomship:Nice, no flaws.

Customer Service/Communication: N/A

Would you purchase this product again? no, not a good fit for me
