This has gotten to be a REAL problem. Anyone know what to do? Foods, herbs? My family and home and business are all suffering and I feel like crap, always in a fog. Any advice? Please????? Can you tell I'm desperate??

I know being tired is a common symptom of pregnancy, but it's also a very common one of hypothyroidism. Once you're pregnant, your thyroid stops working as efficiently and a lot of women end up with thyroid problems during or after pregnancy. I would mention wanting your TSH, T3, and T4 levels checked to your practitioner. IMO all pregnant women should have their thyroid levels checked by 6 weeks and again at 10 week, because you are the sole supplier of thyroid hormones to the fetus until week 14 and low thyroid levels in the fetus are linked with cognitive damage/delays.
Have you been feeling cold at all? Is your brain functioning well or is it in a fog too?

Well, I have not been feelling cold at all, but my brain seems to be in a fog. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, though.

Kathy, I felt that way in my first pregnancy and it turns out I was anemic. How is your iron intake? I take Floradix which is a natural iron/herbal supplement that doesn't cause constipation like the others do. You can find it at Whole Foods type stores.
It stinks to feel that way! I hope you are feeling better soon.

Floradix is a good idea -- I used that when I was pg with ds, too. Getting enough protein is smart, too.
But I also think it just goes with the territory -- making a baby is hard work! My best advice is to go with the flow and get the rest you need. All that stuff will still be there during your second trimester when you should be blessed with abundant energy!

Thanks gals. I do normally have low iron, so you all are probably right about that but I'll ask to check my thyroid levels at my next Dr. visit just to be sure. Tonight I took a few dropperfuls of Madelyn Iron drops that I never give her, and tomorrow I'll pick up the Floradix and hopefully that will help.

Well I am in a totall fog, too and am always feeling crappy, and I did have my iron and thyroid checked and they are normal! I know this is a normal symptom of pregnancy, I just was hoping I wouldn't get it since I didn't with ds. But I can't complain b/c the terribly exhaustion is the worst thing I've had. I am just thankful I'm not vomiting (YET). I went grocery shopping alone with ds this morning (haven't done that in ages!) and it totally wore me out. I can't wait till he gets tired so I can take a nap!!!

I'm in the same boat. Completely exhausted, and brain fog. Glad to know I'm not alone. I have a doctors appt next week I guess I'll mention it. I know one of his sugestions will be to night wean my son. I'm not sure what I'll do about that.

Honestly, I don't think night weaning will help. Well, it wouldn't help me anyway. Your son is so young and I've read that nightweaning really isn't even a possibility until around 18 months, when you can kind of explain to them. You know "nursies are sleeping now, you can nurse when the sun is up" - that kind of thing.
I went out today and bought a big bottle of Floradix Floravital Iron+herbs. It was $36.00!!!!! Dh isn't going to be too happy, but if it helps, then I don't care what it costs. It's in this big glass bottle that looks like a flask and you pour it into a little plastic measuring cup that looks like a shot glass. I feel like an alcoholic drinking it!
