Ethan's Birth Story
Ok, finally had time to write this down, excuse any spelling errors

Ethan was due on Nov 25th, but because of my high blood pressure and other health problems, my doc and I decided that taking him out at 37 weeks would be best. So we scheduled the CS for Thursday, which was a few days away. I couldn't sleep the night before, I was so nervous that we were taking him out too early. Around 4am I was starving but didn't want to eat too much, so I ate a small apple. We got to the hospital at around 6.30am, the CS was scheduled for 9am. They started getting me ready, and that included an IV. I hate needles and the size of the IV one was huge. After they put it in, I asked for a bandage I could wear on my hand so I wouldn't have to look at it. As they were getting me ready, they asked if I had eaten anything, I said I had an apple around 4am. They freaked, and said I wasn't supposed to have anything to eat or drink, then refused to do the CS for another 6 hours, all because of an apple!!!
So 6 hours passed by very slowly, it was time for the epi. Why anyone would WANT an epi is beyond me, but for a CS I had to have one. It is the worse feeling in the world. Eventually it took hold and could feel nothing, which has an amazing effect on me: it puts me to sleep. I kept drifting in and out, which is good because I was in the OR for over 3 hours. It seems my previous CS left a lot of scar tissue, so much so that it was hard to get the baby out. After she got the baby out, she had to to "clean up" all the old scar tissue so that if I got pregnant again, it would be safer. (DH said she was burning the tissue some how because he could smell it). After she cleaned it all up, she wanted to make sure that my bladdar wasn't damaged, so she had some kind of camera thing looking around inside my bladdar, and injected blue dye into my kidneys. (the nurses after kept telling me how pretty my pee was). I remember very little of all this, because i kept falling asleep. I woke up to the sound of suctioning and I asked if they were going to leave any blood in me

They said it was amniotic fluid, I asked if it was clear, they said it was. I woke up once and asked how my blood pressure was. They said it was fine. I said "ok good" and went back to sleep. I was awake when Ethan was born, I heard him cry and he was just fine, no breathing problems. I got to look at him and kiss him, he and dh went away and then it was time for my doc to clean up my scar tissue. I slept through it all.
Eventually they were done, and wheeled me back to my room, in which there were what seemed like a whole room full of relatives there. I was so pissed off. I just got done with surgery, couldn't move my legs, i wanted time for just dh, me and ethan and I had a room full of noisy people. I told dh to send them all home. Since I couldn't move, dh positioned Ethan at the boob and he latched on, ate a little, nuzzled a little and slept. He was so cute!
The hospital staff was absolutely fantastic. No one took Ethan away for anything, all tests were done in my room. He roomed in with me every night. I did send him to the nursery 3 times because he couldn't get warm. I tried everything, couldn't get him warmed up. The hospital even gave me vegetarian food! All the nurses were so nice and supportive. I didn't think it was possible to have a good hospital experience after dd #1 4 years ago, but all I had to do was change hospitals. 2 days after the C-Birth, I got to go home.
ps: all my fears about having a boy are gone! I've never seen a little penis before and it's so cute
