how do you do it?

just wondering how everyone manages to work out with the children around?

when DD was younger it was really easy to put her in a carrier and get out for a hike, but now that she is older she hikes herself (which of course isn't fast enough for me to get a work out). i do dvd workouts while she is napping, but that only seems to work 3 days a week.

i am hoping there is something simple that i haven't thought of that will work

so how do you all do it?

what worked for me was at first i bought a stationary bike which was relatively inexpensive, then ended up getting a second hand treadmill. that was the best thing for me anyway.

this might not help much but...

before i started work, i used to walk *everywhere* (i *still* walk everywhere!), which helped me build up my endurance and overall health.

now, i'm working at a very physical job ~ i work at a recycling center, hauling barrels filled with glass, plastic + cans, push cans around, and break glass ~ with a 10 lb sledgehammer. it's very physically demanding, and i've already gained a great deal of muscle just from 1 week on the job.

I second the exercise machine idea. I have one that I use any/all of the following:
-baby's naptime
-family tv time
-after baby goes to bed
