weekly thread Nov 8th-14th - Page 4

You're right, Jenelle, I just searched her posts, and she hasn't posted since the 8th or 9th... I hope she's doing all right! It looks like she is due the 12th, so that would make her just a couple days short of 36 weeks. She will be in my thoughts & prayers; I'm so glad that if she has given birth she made it this long, though -- the odds are pretty favorable. Hopefully it isn't bad news to do with her mother.

Oh dear, I'm here.

Everything is fine with me and the baby, except I seem to have gotten the cold thats been going around. I've been taking it easy, watching movies and lounging on the couch playing xbox. I got up the other day, and my hip seemed to just give out and I fell. : Its been really painful ever since, flaring up in the mornings, and getting better through out the day. Before bed it bothers me again, though. I had a midwife (yay I'm back at the birth center!) appointment yesterday, and she doesn't seem to think its because of the way the babe is lying, so there wasn't much we could do to try to fix it.
The 8 pounds of weight was a mystery, it was gone by that evening and hasn't really been back since. Every so often, I'll have to remove my rings because I'm swelling, but its nothing I feel I need to worry about.
Last night I had 3 hours of regular contractions, 3-4 minutes apart. I still can't believe our little baby will be joining us in just a few short weeks!

I'm sorry I caused you guys to worry. I'm terrible with email/phone/msg boards - communication as a whole. :

Hey Woman! Glad to hear everything is fine, and don't feel bad -- it was only a few days in any case. Keep relaxing & hopefully that hip will feel better soon; don't feel obligated to post daily, lol!

Re: the pool from qualityinflatables.com; I chose the cheapest shipping option, and I just got the UPS tracking info last night -- they say I'll have it by Thursday. Just fyi!
Oh yay! I guess I'll go ahead and order it then. I was just afraid it'd take a few weeks ground and I wouldn't get it in time. Thanks!!

I ordered the bigass hexagonal pool from quality inflatables on Friday. Glad to see I'm not the only one who procrastinates... :LOL I have a lot of room where I'm going to set it up, so I thought why not go for the extra 3 inches in depth, and have it be big enough for Lula to get in with me (I KNOW she will!)? The 60 inch pool is fine though- I had that for Lula's birth. It was lovely.

M~H~L: I know that Hollywood actresses actually use toupee tape or duct tape to lift their breasts when they're wearing a red-carpet dress where a bra is not an option. Maybe you could use that. Who cares if it shows, as long as it's not under the cast area? I mean, if you attached it on each breast at about armpit level, and then brought it up over your shoulder, would that give you some lift? : Just be careful taking it off... maybe rub some Goo Gone on it to loosen the glue. :LOL

LOL Good idea! I'm not wanting to look like someone else. I just thought the way I'd need to sit my boobs wouldn't be at their most shinig moment...

Hey girls....

I just want to take a minute to whine, LOL. dh isnt home and I'm just so uncomfortable......feel free to pass over LOL

My allergies are horrible today... I cant breathe out my nose and have a roll of toilet paper practically tied to my wrist. The past day or two the pain in my tailbone area has been HORRIBLE! Not to mention I feel like there is a bowling ball sitting on top of my cervix and I constnatly feel like I have to pee. Walking/standing is actually a something I dread, LOL. The only comfortable spot to sit is in my rocking chair or on my birthing ball. This baby has to be coming soon!! I can not take another 3 weeks of this :LOL I'm just getting impatient.

I hope everyone is having a better Saturday than I apparantly am, LOL. Thanks for letting me vent/whine just a bit.

You can use masking tape for boob taping too. I had to tape mine for my prom dress and it worked great. But I taped under them, pushing them up. I think the masking tape would hurt a lot less to remove than duct tape.

Ahhh...I just got back from my Yoga class. I am so glad I actually made it this week! I am thinking about going 2x a week until the baby is born to make up for my slackness and make sure my body is ready for the birth. I feel so good right now-- nothing hurts! YAY!

Did I tell you all that my midwife brought me over 2 bags full of baby clothes? She is so awesome. There was even about 15 diaper covers in the, in all sizes.

My friend who's a midwife is coming to spend the night tomorrow for my Blessing Way on Monday. I am so excited. I haven't seen her in 2 years! And she's bringing her little 6 month old too. I have to sweep and mop the floors today so its safe for the little one. Gosh... I'm going to have to keep my house so much cleaner in a few months!

Hi ladies! Sounds like folks are doing well, and getting ready! I would love to do a belly cast, but I can't find the materials locally. Any ideas on oredring them?

I am almost 37 weeks, and I am starting to feel anxious that the baby might make an early appearance. I often feel a pms-like sensation - I don't usually get pms cramps, and I do not feel crampy now, but the sensation is a dull, deep achiness. I also feel a lot of pressure on my cervix. Few or no bh though. What do you all think? With my first, I went past the due date before there were any changes in my cervix (it was hard and closed until past the due date) or any new sensations - at my appt last week, my cervix was soft and 1cm dilated. I am excited...but not quite ready! I want my mom to get here to help out with dd...not to mention we are in a snowstorm right now and the hospital is a couple hours away...
thanks!

kristi

I think you can order a belly cast kit off the Birthing From Within website. If not there, you can probably google it.

Good Luck!

They have kits on ebay and most birth supply online stores. www.birthwithsol.com has kits. I got my supplies at hobby lobby but I hear michaels has the plaster too.

How many of you ladies are planning on having a doula?

I hired mine yesterday - I'm so excited I could squeal. :LOL

I woke up to a dream about the baby this morning. For some reason they (nurses) had him sitting propped up in a bath tub and we were looking at him. I was waiting for DH to get there before I found out the sex, and wasn't exactly becoming "attatched" in any way or doing any bonding - just kind of staring at my baby having a bath. Anyhow, the nurse suddenly blurts out "I can't take it anymore" and lifts its little leg, and we see that its a boy. It was a very odd dream, but right away, i was carrying him around, and loving him. In the end it was nice, but still distrurbing that I just stared at him for so long. :|

We had our last pre-birth meeting with our doula yesterday. I love her! She is a former LPN with a background in Ojibwe medicine, too, and she's totally into the Birthing From Within groove. Having her around is going to make me feel much, much safer and relaxed in the hospital setting--both because she can support us AND because she can guard me from unwanted procedures. I informed her that I fully expect her to jump in and do a judo chop on anyone who tries to give me an episiotomy!

Ouch!!

It seems that the baby (Rylie?) has managed to sneak a cattle prod inside my uterus. I swear she is poking my cervix with it right now.

I wish Jeff could carry the baby for a couple of days. There is so much I want to get done, but I am just not physically up to it.

We have a doula I was very lucky to find her and we have chatted on the phone and in my home a few times. I wish I had more time with her, but she is super busy trying to build her business and dealing with her three kids, so I understand.
I really like her, though, and this will be our first experience with a doula, so I am pretty excited!

I can sympathize on both counts! I just posted the other day about that insane pain in the cervix! OOWWWIIIEEE!!!
I did manage to get some things done today, but there is still soooooooooooo much more to do!

:LOL Cattle prod... -- that's my little bean as well. My midwife has said the last few times that his hand is up near his face, so I think that's what it is -- it seems too concentrated in one place to be a loosening/preparing of the cervix (in my uneducated opinion -- since ds1 was breech/transverse & my water broke when I was completely closed & hard, I'm not really familiar with what to expect/recognize, kwim?).

Someone posted the spinningbabies.com link -- where did you find the info. on moving little bean's hand? I've read all about avoiding bad posture etc. to discourage breech, but I never saw anything about moving his hand...

I'm so excited with what we're getting done around the house -- yesterday my friend (who will be my doula -- she's just completing her training) took my ds1 to her house for the day, and dh & I were able to get the majority of our bookshelf built -- it's about 4 ft tall, & we built it into a corner -- about 8 ft on one side and 6 ft on the other! We still have to cut, stain & fit all the trim (to hide all the discrepencies -- none of the walls we built from were plumb : ) and then the shelves. It will fit most of the fabric I have and all of my books & some of my craft supplies. I will be so happy to not have to walk past 15 overflowing boxes of that stuff while in labor!

I also used Soft Scrub (not TOO toxic, right??) and washed my tub & shower walls -- that stuff is amazing! Last time I tried to clean our bathroom I had a butter knife, a toothbrush, 2 scratchy pads & 4 washclothes... This time I just used a sponge (well, I used the scratchy side occasionally) and rinsed with water... I'm so happy -- I'm going to take a long bath tonight or tomorrow -- I haven't been able to do that or even let anyone in that bathroom in months, I was so ashamed! :LOL

Well, I am bound and determined to get some sewing done tonight, even though I'm not really in the mood -- I just don't have any time left to waste, kwim?? It blows my mind that this bean could be safely born in 5 days! I'm excited, though -- so many conflicting emotions -- I'm as hormonal as a, well, a pregnant woman! :LOL

Hope you all are getting what you want/need done, and mentally/emotionally letting go of that which you cannot, so you can have a happy & peaceful birth!
