My son was born early at 31 weeks on 10/28!

I had PIH, kind of came out of nowhere and got really bad.. (flashy/blurry vision, headaches, chest pain, lots of swelling).. Ended up going to the emergency room with blood pressure of 175/115. I was in the hospital for a day before they did a c-cection.
Amergin was 2 pounds 2 ounces. He's doing really well, His lungs are great, and hes eating 25ccs of breastmilk every feeding now, and gaining lots of weight. He has a headfull of black hair and dark eyes. He will come home from the hospital in about 2 weeks....

Has anyone else had their babies early? want to talk about it?

OMG! You must have been so scared momma! I've been having preterm labor since 31 and a half weeks, and its been really rough. I'm so glad to hear your baby is doing well, and is healthy. While I was at the hospital I saw a pair of 33 week old twins that were just doing amazing, it made me feel really good to know that if I did have my baby, the chances are he or she would be just fine. I feel so happy to hear your babies lungs are fine, it doesn't sound like they had time to give you any steroids to help with the maturity?

Congrats on growing such a healthy baby! I wish you all the best and hope he comes home soon.

Thanks for the congrats
I was really scared.. This is my second child, My daughter was born with midwives, mostly at home (hospital transport).. easiest pregnancy ever.. This one was totally different.. I NEVER wanted to have a c-cection.. I didn't even get to see the baby for a day and a half after he was born because my blood pressure just wouldnt go down enough for them to take me off the mag.
They DID give me steroids, i was nervous about it.. but really wanted him to do well, i guess it helped!
I dont mean to sound like a bummer or freak anyone out about the sad emotional stuff of having him this way, it really did go well considering, im so thankful that Amergin is safe!

Are you on bedrest? bedrest makes you so lonely!
If you DO have your baby a little early, you are far enough along that im sure everything will be fine, especially if you're pumping good breastmilk for him! You can do it momma!

Mag is terrible! It kept me in the hospital way longer then I needed to be because of complications (pulmonary edema : ) and I kept thinking, if this drug is causing me so much trouble, what is it doing to my baby? I was only on it for 3 days, but they seemed to last forever, it seems to take the life right out of a person. I'm so sorry you had to go through such an ordeal.

I'm not really on bedrest. I'm not supposed to clean my house, or do laundry, just relax and take it easy. Its pretty hard not to do these things though, they need to be done, and I can't just leave them. I come to work everyday with my dh (he owns his own store) and I lounge on the couch and read. He keeps me company, and that way if my labor becomes "active" again he can rush me back to the hospital. I'm not scared about the baby coming early anymore, I know he or she will do just fine. I'm just trying to hang in a little bit longer.

I just want to say once again, I'm so happy that your baby is okay and doing so well!

What an ordeal, Mama! I am so happy to hear that your lil one is doing so well, though! I had PTL with my dd at 31 weeks and with this one at 33... I always thought I was so lucky to finally make it to term and I never really thought about having to deal with a preemie birth. It sounds like you and your new son have just done wonderfully, though! Post us some pics soon, and I will certainly have you family in my thoughts until he is home with you.
CONGRATS and happy birthday, Amergin!!

She has alot of other problems so she stayed much much longer. 4 months total. If they've told you 2 weeks you baby must be so strong and healthy and that is woderful! Please keep us updated on his progress and yours. If you need to vent or talk please feel free to come to us. Luck!

Last time that we went to see him he had his eyes open the whole time, just looking up at us.. it was so wonderful!
