how is it that there is still lead in stuff made today?

i just read the archived thread about lead, and they were talking about how it is in childrens board books?????? and on plastic bag lables????? and so now i am freaking out. i thought lead was banned from everything! what the heck? someone fill me in and let me know how i can find out which of my sons board books to throw away! thanks. i am gonna stop mega posting now and go to bed!!!!!!
