MW Suggestions Questions

OKies ladies.. I saw my MW today ( and all is well ) but she had some prep suggestions that I have questions about maybe ya'll can answer.

First, she suggested I start taking EPO capsuls at 36 or 37 weeks. How much? How often? She says that it is great for baby's brain development and will help prep the cervix and uterus for labor...

Next she suggests red clover tea. I do drink red raspberry leaf tea now and wondered if the clover has more benefits?

Then, as I reach term or go into labor, she suggests clary sage massages. Anyone have any experience with clary sage massages in labor? She claims it will calm and help with making contractions productive.

I coulda asked her all of this but dd was very cranky during my appt and I just wanted to get her home for a nap.

TIA!

I'm already taking EPO. I take 1 1300mg capsule in the morning, and one in the evening. As for the tea, a midwife I once interviewed recommends a tea of 2 parts RRL, 1 part red clover, 1 part nettles. I don't have any firsthand knowledge of the clary sage massages, but I LOVE the smell of clary sage, and I can't wait until I get my essential oils back so that I can add it into my evening massage. (At this point, I do a daily masage of palma christi/ aka castor oil and chamomile EO. My skin feel SO GOOD!)

Michelle,

The red clover is great for you, I've been drinking it daily since I was TTCing.

Also, the clary sage, which I put in your labor salts, is also great once you are at term--which is what your mw is suggesting.

I have heard wonderful things about the EPO, and I did it vaginally w/my son, and probably will do it vaginally w/this one as well around 38w (if I remember :LOL ).

Wild, cause I have been trying to do some reasearch on the red clover, but all I keep coming up with is that it may help with TTC when added to other things like RRL, but that red clover isnt generally advised during pregnancy and breastfeeding!

Ah well, I have really only found it in tea mixtures online and haven't gotten the chance to check out some local places yet. I'm all about the clary sage massages, tho! It smells awesome and I can't think of a better way to keep dh busy

Thanks for the info!!!

I've been taking 1300 mg of epo for quite a long time now. I wonder if I should up my dosage? I'm planning on using it vaginally after 36 weeks or so. I have noticed that it has made my skin so soft!! I think i'll continue it after my pregnancy if It's ok to do that. It's got to be good for you anyway right? Anyway, pregnancy tea has red clover in it. I drink RRL alot myself since it's got a less herby taste. I can't get a message out of DH, it's never going to happen with an oils...

I went and bought EPO yesterday and will start taking it next weekend. The MW wants me to wait til 36 weeks cause of the stupid PTL stuff. What are the advantages to using it vaginally?
I'm out of pregnancy tea, and since I need some clary sage oil and a carrier, I think I will head out to Whole Foods sometime tomorrow or Tuesday to pick up that stuff.

I just cannot believe we are all so close!!!!
