Book for young girl or, on second thought boy too.

Oh, my goodness, yesterday I was driving and I heard an amazing piece all about tender stories for kids.. and when they described this one book I almost burst into tears.. very tender.

I immediately told my girlfriends with daughters about it....

my ds is only 3 but I want to get it for him when he is older...

This was one of my favorite books when I was young...its still sitting on my shelf, though I haven't read it in many, many years! I may have to go pick it up again Thanks for reminding me about it. Very cool story.

That is one of the best stories ever written, imho. I've read it to my children every year since they were probably too young to completely get it. Now my older kids are 13(boy) and 9(girl), and they get tears in their eyes (along with me.)

One of my favorites. Dd read it and wrote a book report on it a few weeks ago as a homeschooling assignment.

Eleanor Estes has written several good books for kids, mainly her series about the Moffat family, and Ginger Pye which won a Newberry Award.
