iso great magazine for "tween" girl

we have some friends who have a daughter who is almost 10. however, she looks 13 or 14, which i think has been hard on her. she's going through puberty right now, and is much taller than other kids her age. she is also more intelligent than most children her age. on top of this, they recently moved to a new city and she is having a hard time fitting in according to her mom.

her birthday is next month and i'd love to send her a magazine subscription. something that someone her age would like with a good girl power message. any suggestions?

My Dd (about to turn 11) enjoys "New Moon" and it sounds like what you are looking for. It's Ad free and is for girls 8-15 ish I believe. Here is a link to check it out:

i have been wondering about new moon too. i am wanting to get a subscription for my 12yo niece.. can I ask is it really alternative like? (SIL thinks I'm a nut already about moon time rituals,etc.)

eta-nevermind I checked out the sample issue..I think I will definitly get her a subscription. it looks like something she would really like!

I was going to recommend American Girl also. My 9yo dd has a subscription and my older dd used to love it as well.
