Bad news.... I am so bummed.

My midwife appointment didn't go so well. I had very high protein in my urine along with ketones and glucose (not worried about glucose~side effect of the medicne). Also my hemoglobin was back down to less then 10. We aren't going to bother doing a home visit next week because at this point she wouldn't deliver our baby at home. So I am on bedrest for the week for two main reasons: Make sure I don't start contracting and go into labor 2. Give my body extra rest...maybe I can heal form this cold if all my body has to do is heal and nurture baby. The hemoglobin is a big deal at this point.

So we added more supplements, protein shakes, and am watching for blood pressure issues. I was induced with my first pregnancy for Pre-eclampsia so that is a concern.

I am 35 weeks tommorow and I have one week to get this under control or I get transfereed out.

I'm confused. What are they worried is going on? Preeclampsia? I don't really know where hemaglobin comes in in pregnancy.

Well I am gestattional Diabetic so that is one problem. Although I am pretty sure I have cleared that up becasue testing my blood has been fine it was just the urine test and we are pretty sur that is just a reaction to the meds for PTL.

The protein and ketones are a issue with my body burning its own tissue.

The protein at this level is a sign of pre-eclampsia which caused my very first induction.

The hemoglobin has to do with the anemia and the risk of hemmorage is to great for a home birth at this point.

I am so bummed because the c-section rate here is 1 in 3. If that is my chances just walking in then what does the diabetes, signs of pre-e, and a posterior baby do to my chances.

We are cash pay and I can't afford weekly non-stress tests and biophysical profiles besides I di d that for my last two pregnancies and really wanted a different experience.

To top it all off, I am still contracting pretty reguarly and I can't take the terbutiline/bethine any more because it sent my bloodsuhgar off the charts.

amanda -- i am no authority on the subject, but my midwife once told me that a glass of red wine will oftentimes stop preterm labor -- maybe you could ask about that to reduce contrax? I'm not sure about the sugar content in red wine though, it might give you just as many problems.

Perhaps if you end up w/ a hospital birth your midwife could come as a doula to help advocate for you?

I'm so sorry you are going through all this...

Amanda- stay strong and rest. try not to be too depressed. I really think postive thoughts can help you in times like this. Hang in there.
