Shopping Carts I've used, quick rundown. - Page 2

Amanda,

What is your website url? I'd love to see it in action. We had X-Cart Pro too, I spent so much on it really hoping it would be a good cart for us but was so frustrated in the end.

Hey I'm kinda butting in here, but I use X-Cart Pro too and love it, my link is www.themommymarketplace.com Amanda's is www.wholefamilymarket.com.

There are some things I love about X-Cart and some things I love about Zencart. There are some things X-Cart does not have that I think it should, for example, multiple currencies, which it can have, but when the product is actually purchased, the customer can only be billed in the main currency, whereas Zencart, the customer is billed in whatever currency they choose. But X-Cart definitely has other advantages over Zencart, one being that I think it would be much easier for someone without PHP experience to manage.

I know this can be a problem for some people, especially if you're working in Pro and have providers in multiple countries. However, for the accountant in me, this makes total sense. On the financial end of a business, I've always been taught that you should only deal in one currency and convert in. So, as a US biz, I keep my site set at USD. I honestly don't display CDN dollars because it's more work for me to keep the conversion rate up and current, and I'm maxed out between 3 businesses as it is right now. :

Yeah, I agree, keeping the conversion rate up to date would be a major pain. If X-Cart was like Zen and did the automatic conversion and updated the rate daily automatically, then it would be ok, but I saw no point in adding in the dropdown box for customers to choose their currency and then have them still being billed in US whether they purchased in US, CAD, or something else. I do though show an *approx* CAD rate so they at least have an idea, I set it a little high, so if anything, my customers will be pleasantly surprised I just love how Zen does it so much My accounting program handles both currencies at the exchange rate for the day the transaction was made, so accounting wise it's very manageable for me. But the program was definitely pricier then a standard single currency accounting program.

Just thought I should clarify that this is an extra function that you have to set up a cron job to achieve, I just didn't want to confuse any zen users out there Zen out-of-the-box requires you to manually update the exchange rate daily in your admin.

Hey, I just came accross this thread again and wondered if anyone has some new info they'd like to share about what carts you're using. I know there are several new ones designed for WAHM's and I'd love to hear how they're working for you...

I adore Watersweb SKP. (I have my own cart too) But I generally forward clients to the others because then I don't have to install the cart and it allows me to focus on designing. LOL

I am also looking for info on cubecart... anyone have any experiences with them yet?

My friend Robin has lots of experience with it. Let me know if you want her contact information.

Thank you!

Thanks!
We are going to try to troubleshoot it some before hiring someone to help. I gave up on it for tonight, and hopefully I can figure it out soon - I can't wait to get my new site up and running with an official shopping cart and everything; It has only been about 4 years.

Okay - I need help.
Does anyone know someone that can help me with Zen-Cart?
I have uploaded it and can sign in, I just don't know what to do next and how to manage it, execute it, whatever. ::sigh::

Just thought this was a good one, especially since I'm looking at carts right now myself.
