Where are your favorite places to get nursing clothes? Kyla and I didnt have a successful nursing relationship so I never bought any.... but we plan on nursing this one no matter what it takes, LOL. Thanks!

I love everything I got from motherwear. They are a bit more expensive than the stuff in Motherhood stores, but I think overall the quality is a lot better & everything I have from them has worn very well. I also got a few motherwear things off of ebay.

ps - I think your attitude about nursing no matter what it takes is great!

I have two nursing dresses, a nursing sweater, and a nursing shirt. DS weaned a couple months ago, which represented my first nursing break in 4.5 years.

My favorite is the sweater, and it is WAHM made, my mom bought it for me and can't tell me where she got it .

I don't have a lot of nursing clothes because I don't enjoy wearing them, I very much prefer 'regular' clothes. Makes me feel like nursing is a normal thing, because if we buy into the idea that you *need* nursing clothing, it is buying into the ideal that nursing = not normal = need extra stuff. Shirts lift, so do sweaters, and I'm not the most self-conscious person but even my own family can't always tell when I'm nursing. I only really see the point in having nursing dresses, since normal dresses don't offer easy access.

The only nursing wear I own are some bras. I am planning on getting a nursing camisole this time b/c I love sweatshirts and sweaters in the winter and nursing w/ those is a pain. I also might pick up a dress or 2 for church (it's hard to remember to wear 2 pieces there all the time). I had a hard time nursing AJ and even had to supplement, but he nursed for 13 mos (I was 15 wks pg when he stopped) so it can be done! I am determined to nurse Evan too, even though AJ has milk/soy issues and that will probably be more present this time. Good luck!

Seconding what Nikki said...

I think the prices at Motherwear are outrageous. And having BFed DD for 2 years in "normal" clothes, I am deffinitely not willing to pay for "breastfeeding clothes."
The only time I could even see this being a truly useful item (not including the dresses) is in the winter when lifting your shirt would make you cold.
My solution this time around is to get a couple of the glamourmom style tank tops (from Motherwear, for half the price!) to layer under my normal shirts. Its basically the same thing as a nursing top, and you can still wear your normal clothes. And you will hava some cute tanks to wear in the summer.
But honestly, if this baby was coming at any other time of year, I wouldn't even bother!

Motherwear is expensive! You can get nursing tanks like theirs at target and walmart for much cheaper and since it's basicly under-wear it's just as good imo. Technically, you could cut slits in a regular white tank that you already have and throw a sweatshirt over it. Who cares if the slits are obvious if it's meant for under a shirt? I'm not spending the money unless I really need it later on.

I don't think I own a single item of nursing clothes even though dd nursed until just before her 3rd bday. In the winter, I usually wore a stretchy sweater or sweater/sweatshirt that closed in the front and a stretchy or wide necked shirt underneath.

With the stretchy sweater, I'd lift the sweater up and pull the shirt down.

With the front opening stuff, I'd undo the top and lift the shirt up.

This worked well for pretty much every situation and most importantly covered all the belly flab :LOL I don't know why, but I worry more about my flabby belly showing than a little boob.

I never wore any nursing clothes. The only thing I missed was not being able to wear a dress to church becuase I didn't really have anywhere I was comfortable nursing and hiking the dress up around my neck at.

I agree you don't *need* any nursing clothes, but I like having a few things, especially dresses, in styles that I would normally wear. I really hate the stuff that screams maternity or nursing.

The other thing you can do if you like to sew is make your own. Sew Baby has a few patterns here.

I can't imagine wearing a dress for much of anything but special occasions. Even for church I wear kahkis or black dockers and mules. I avoid places i'd need a dress so it shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks everyone! I like the idea of the tank thing under the shirts... that sounds a lot more comfortable to me
