...so if i prewash my new wool interlock on hot and dry it before sewing, will i be able to machine wash my covers with my dipes?

You will need to do it more than once, but then yes. You will need to relanolize every so many washes. The downside to this is that your wool will wear out. I had 2 wool flannel covers (2 layer) and they are now about useless. I compared it to some of my wool from when I sewed the covers & the 2 layers feel as if they are the same thickness as one layer of the unsewn/abused stuff. I think I got somewhere between 6 - 10 months of use out of them, though, & it was awfully convenient... I am going to try to salvage them by sewing a strip of wool all the way from front to back on the inside -- we'll see.

For new covers, I plan to have enough to do a load of just wool & wash on gentle & put them in a big lingerie bag.
