I took nearly 4 yo ds to it today, his first movie in a theatre. Big mistake. He loves trains, and has seen enough videos that I thought he'd be ok in some of the scary parts. He asked to leave, so we did. We weren't the first to leave; someone carried out a crying toddler 30 minutes into the movie.

I'm just furious as to why a G-rated children's movie has to be so gratuitously scary. I even closed my eyes during some of it - very IMAX-like. It was like every few minutes, they didn't have any plot so they had to come up some new danger to show off what they could do with the technology.

I read the reviews, but was so looking forward to seeing a good Christmas movie with ds....grrrrrrr..............

We took our 3 kids today, and they all loved it. My husband and I loved it *so* much. The animation was like nothing I have ever seen. When the golden ticket flew away and was carried with wind by the running wolves, then the eagal picked it up and fed it to her baby and then the baby spit it out and it went back through the train--it just got goosebumps.

My kids were not frightened at all by it--and I honestly can't say any other child in the theater had to leave. It was one of the best all time movies I have ever seen...including grown up films.

My 5-yr-old and I saw it a couple of days ago, and we loved it. There were a couple of places where we were holding hands and sitting a little closer than normal, but we both agreed that we would love to see it again.

This was a great movie, I loved it. My son is 5, & my nephews are 4 & 6. None of them was scared at any part of the movie but they all really liked it. No one had to take out a screaming kid, either. I thought it was a wonderful film. I read the book to the boys after we saw the movie & honestly I liked the movie better.

We went, and it was ds2's first movie, he is 2.5yo. He wasn't scared, he liked it alot! However, we watched "Elf" today, and I wasn't expecting him to sit through it, but he did, and is going on and on about it.......seems he likes it much better than Polar Express. I liked that they had a cloth diaper in Elf
