DO I need to reinforce for snaps on a wool jersy cover?

I am making Ds some wool jersey covers and I am wondering should I reinforce where the snaps are? I am making 2 layer covers. If I should reinforce how and with what? Another layer of wool or maybe cotton?

Another Q too, when I make the two layer cover how do I put the elastic inside? Should I zig ziag or encase the elastic?

Defantly reinforce. I use organic twill tape, or organic cotton. Even with a double layer. The metal snaps prongs are sharp and will eventually cut out the fabric.
