Zoloft VS Effexor?

I'm nursing my 8mo several times a day although she does eat a good bit of solids..Trying to figure out which would work best and is safest..

I'm trying to decide between Zoloft 50mg or Effexor either 37.5 or 75 mg..I went on Zoloft when DD was about 2 mo and was on it for a couple of months..But I felt like a zombie and NO sex drive..

I want to do what's safest and I know Zoloft is considered the safest but I don't like the side effects..I went to the dr on Thursday and he gave me samples of effexor but I started back on my Zoloft after talking it over with DH..DH said do what's considered safest..But now I can't sleep at night..Horrible imsomnia and I'm worried about the other side effects showing up : Wondering if I should get the Zoloft out of my system and switch to the Effexor..

My main symptoms are HORRIBLE tension headaches and extreme moodiness/crankiness, etc..

Thanks!

I have known two people who have taken Effexor, and both of them have seemed to have trouble with rage and aggression AFTER they began taking the medication. They seemed to settle into the drug after a while, and become less aggressive, but if you are only going to be using it short term for PPD, you may only experience that stressful beginning. Granted, this is only two people, but the word Effexor always catches my eye because of it, so I noticed your post and thought you might want to know the little experience I have with that drug. I know nothing about the safety factor. Best of luck to you. I hope your PPD will be over for you quickly! My heart goes out to you!

so, YOu are taking the zoloft and want to possibly switch to effexor?
Im on 125 mg effexor currently and can honestly say that for me I am happy with it. I think that definately stop one before the other or wean slowly. the effects can be different for each person.

I chickened out on taking the Effexor and started Zoloft on Friday..But now I'm questioning that move..I don't think it would take too long to get it out of my system..I hope!
