where to get homebirthing supplies

I know I just read a thread about buying hoses, etc.... for a birthing tub but I cannot remember where?? Any suggestions would be helpful. Any supplies you wished you had but didn't????

are you talking about a hose or adapter to fill a birthing tub? I'm sure your mw knows where things are available locally, but most of our moms can find stuff like that at the hardware store.

To be honest, you don't need much by way of birthing supplies, IMO. It's good to have a lot of towels around as they tend to come in handy whether you're having a waterbirth or not.

Your mw also might have a list of supplies she likes her clients to get.

I got my birth kit from

and the adapter to hook up the hose to the sink to fill the birthpool...you can get them at most hardware stores for just a few dollars

I'm sure others will have great ideas of must-haves, but I can't think of too much off the top of my head. I remember we bought shower curtains at the dollar store to protect the couch etc., and that really worked well. We cut up an old towel for perineal compress (with hot water, during later labor & delivery), and that helped a lot. Hmmm, otherwise can't think of anything out of the ordinary to suggest!

I got all my birthing supplies from cascade birthing supplies

Although, we didn't use ANY of them...I would definitely get a heating pad or hot water bottle for after pains and a bottle of calcium magnesium for afterpains. And a plastic sheet to protect your bed. You don't need much when you're already at home (where is the born at home smilie when you need it?)

to fill our tub, we are just using an ordinary garden hose hooked up to our washing machine water supply. we never could get the aerator off our kitchen sink to attach an adapter to it, but the waching machine water supply was just like a regular garden hose spigot and it hooked right up.

the baby's not here yet, but we did a test run and it worked just fine.
