I thought that maybe we wanted to continue the thread but as the thread was gettig way too long.

I had a relasp this weekend. I went to a breafast at my dad's church. Well, there was only scrambles eggs, pancakes, sausages and toast. There was probably milk in the eggs and pancakes. Dd had reactions all night long. She almost slept the night on me. She had cramps and cried everytime I would put her back in bed. Poor sweety. She also had her facial rash. I know that I can't really have eggs but if they put milk in them then I really shouldn't have had any. On a side note, they were good. lol

She now better. Her rash is almost gone.

Canadian Thanksgiving was last month, but ds1 had a major allergic reaction after it. MIL put cream cheese and sour cream in the mashed potatoes and forgot to tell me. I forgot to ask. He reacted to the corn starch in the sour cream and was up all night struggling to breath I just hate eating at other people's houses, it is too hard to keep track of every ingredient. Sorry your dd had reactions, I hope she is feeling better soon.

FRM,
I hear you about eating at other people`s houses. I teach English to a few private students, at the very least I am served tea, and at one place I get served lunch!! I felt awful in the beginning, asking the ingredients of each item.

Does anybody know anything about being allergic to different forms of the same thing? ie. my daughter has a soy allergy, but
seems OK with soy sauce and miso, both of which are fermented. Is this possible? Could she only react to more obvious forms like tofu?

OK I have just enjoyed a beer, the first in a looooong time, so I should stop for now and write when I can 1.spell 2.make sense. LOL.

It is possible, she may have a hard time with the complete protien, but once it is somewhat broken down she may be able to digest it easier. Or maybe she is reacting, but in a way that is different and you haven't related to an allergic reaction.

I know that many corn allergic kids can handle certain forms of corn by-products (like ascorbic acid). Ds1 can't handle ANY kind of corn. He reacts differently to different kinds of corn though. Things with a high corn content (corn, corn starch, etc.) leads to breathing problems and hives, things that are processed lead to more behavioural issues.

Kathryn, yes it's possible. Corn syrup makes E sick but not corn starch and D reacts the worst to soy milk but small amounts of soy leitchin or soy in premade things doesn't bother her.

Thanks for the replies. I elim. soy 8 months ago, but added it back in as I didn`t see a reaction from her. I live in Japan, so I eat a lot of soy. Then when I started her on solids I gave her some tofu, she was about 11 months. Her face got red where the tofu touched, so I didn`t give it to her again. She also got a bit red from some pumpkin and potato puree with Braggs Aminos in it. When I had her allergies tested soy was the only positive. Cats and dogs were borderline. She reacted to dairy in my diet, I tried with a bit of cheese and have not tried eggs yet. Wheat she had no reaction to, so I have been happily munching on bread and pasta. I would like to be able to eat fermented soy products, soy sauce, miso and fermented soy beans. I have not tried because she is teething and had a bit of a fever, I figure she needs to be not fussing about something else so I can get a true reaction.
