Do you use a bath mat?

the kind w/little suckers on the bottom so the kids won't slip in the tub? We;re having a big silly discussion on this now. Dh insists it's unnecessary, harbors mold and takes up too much room in the bathroom. So, he tossed it. I think our kids, 3 & 2, will always stand up in the tub to play (even tho. they're not supposed to) and will get in/out on their own. I think it's a safety thing. ANd, I take it out after bath and fold it on the floor next to the toilet.

What do you guys do?

I did until the last year or so (dd is 5 1/2). But even now sometimes she will stand up in the bath and the other day her feet slipped out from under her. I caught her just in time! So I will be getting one again soon. And now my 8-month-old is no longer content in her bath ring and insists on standing up in the bath! I do not take mine out after they bathe though, I'm too lazy! : But I do remove it once and awhile to clean under it.

Since we moved a few weeks ago, I cannot find ours-so dd DREADS bathtime. She didnt really ever like taking them without me anyway.I just clean mine when its dirty with a big scrub brush and natural bathroom cleaning soap.I think it is by Life Tree- the Lavender TTO stuff. ANYWAY- she is scared w/out it.I think they are worth the minimal effort-rather than a possible concusion.

I think bath mats are yucky, too. I never used them when the kids were small. When my children repeatedly stood up during their baths, then bathtime became officially over. They learned pretty quickly that if they wanted to splash in the water, they'd better stay on their bottoms.

When they got older and started showering, we used those little textured decals that stick to the tub with adhesive.

Standing in the tub was never an issue for me w/my dd. She's not all that crazy about baths, so we don't have one anymore.

We have a bathmat and we use it all the time. Bathmats are really easy to keep clean. Just throw it in your washer with regular detergent and wash it on hot. It'll stay mold free and clean.

My boys 13 months and 3 y/o stand too much to go without a bathmat.

yes, we use one. once the kids were too old for all the "accessories", there was no question after the slip-in-the-tub happened just once.
yes, they get moldy. clean it.
and ours hangs on the wall of the shower. yes, it gets dirty under it, so we clean it.
i'd rather clean things than have scared kids or injured kids...
but that is just us, ya know...

I used to use one but only because our bath tub was so cold the girls didnt want to sit. Our girls werent allowed to stand in the tub. That was one gross looking bath mat, never could seem to get it clean, tried everything so it seemed.

Our tub now has built in slip thing and it isnt cold so no bath mat here.
