I was really nervous about this. We went to thanksgiving at my Aunt's house. All my cousins, that I know of, are not intact. I have heard my Aunt's talk about how disgusting it was to have sex with an uncircumcised man and all of that.
So, we are there talking about how he is tongue tied and we didn't get his tongue clipped. Somehow the topic changes to circumcision and I feel myself start to sweat. Then my cousin(14 years old) asks if Gabriel, my son, is circumcised. We tell him that he isn't and give a brief explaination about why it isn't necessary and the basics on- doesn't prevent cancer or infections, reduces sexual pleasure. Next thing I know, my other aunt who is his mom walks in the room and my 14yo cousin says, "Hey Mom, why did you get me circumcised, A**?". And I couldn't help myself but I started laughing! I know I shouldn't have but he was dead serious and this kid is always saying off the wall, right what he is thinking comments. So, then my oldest aunt there says she would never do it now and back then everybody did it and she said she was made to feel like she had to. So, then my cousin asks my DH how he feels about it and, DH made some sort of wishy washy comment (i don't mind i guess, is what he said) but it was so as to not make my cousin feel more worse about his own penis situation. But, we followed it up with a few more comments and overall it went really well. I hope that the conversation will go towards helping the new generation that were present make a decision to keep their sons intact.

It sounds like you guys handled the situation very well, and planted a few seeds - good for you!
