check out this site: www.bookcrossing.com
its a site where you go to register a book you'd like to share with the world, get a number for your book, write it and some info in the front of the book...then leave the book somewhere in a public place for someone else to find, and hopefully read!
i think this is a great idea for spreading good parenting books! i checked their parenting book list and they have a ton of ferber books in rotation but only 2 sears books! (both are the discipline book)...they do have a handful of faber/mazlish (the how to talk books) and a bunch of the 5 love languages...but i just want thinking that it would be sooooo awesome if we could spread the word across the AP/natural parenting community to help spread some of the MARVELOUS books that people are probably not aware of yet! i didn't see a single copy of playful parenting on that list! and honestly, considering this is an international list...that list was pretty darn short. thankfully i only saw one ezzo book and it was childwise, not babywise, but still yugh!
anyway, i am going to go to amazon and buy some of my favorite parenting books for just a few dollars here and there...alot of them have been around for quite awhile so many are under a dollar used on amazon, check it out! and i'm going to register them and free them to the world! leave them in public restrooms, park benches, etc... just a book here and a book there so i'm not forking out a lot of money in one pop.
thought if i can find some other mamas wanting to do this that we could keep this thread going with what we've released...might me neat to see...how to talk released in fresno, ca....sears baby book released in phoenix, az....2 copies of playful parenting released in new jersey...yada yada....
the other fun thing about that site is that if the people log in the book you can track where its gone...hopefully people will do that...anyway, at the very least its a good feeling act of good will to help educate your community and just share some awesome books! maybe you already have some books in your house that you'd be willing to part with. i personally hold onto all my parenting books for reference, so i'll be buying new copies on amazon...well, used copies.
maybe ebay too.
so anyone wanna join me?
